Tinnitus Talk Support Forum

What's the latest from your GP or HC professional Dean? Any prognosis for you to work on? I had a head and neck assessment yesterday with a specialist. He was going through all tightness areas in C1 and C2. Listening to me talk about symptoms and then he asked me if I had any difficulties swallowing or breathing. I instantly thought of you.

Thanks @hopefuldede - what type of specialist are you seeing re your c1 and c2?

The upper part of my neck is very tight.

I have a 2nd barium swallow next week, physio on my larynx and a sleep test as my SPo2 levels are falling to 90% when asleep

GP now suspecting vagus nerve and is writing to my neurologist. Dont know what tests, or what could be done though

It was a specialist physiotherapist for head and neck. Explained about inflamed muscles and nerves and the symptoms. If you say vagus nerves issue potentially then that would add up. I read something a while back about long covid and vagus nerve issues. Sorry I wish I knew more. It's like a massive jigsaw for you I am sure.
DeanD
Im now booked in to see a chiropractor to have an xray as I want to check my c1 and c2.
I had covid beginning of last year but after it went I never felt I had long covid - unlike my friend who has and is suffering with it.
It is a one nightmare jigsaw.
Im fighting but at rock bottom right now.
Lost 42kg in 3 months, still losing.
My SP02, blood pressure, ECG, heartbeart are all normal so hospital not interested.

You lost 42kg in 3 months?? And the hospital aren't interested? I weight 52kg in total … is there someone else who can advocate for you as well.
DeanD
@hopefuldede - did my calculations wrong there lol - its 15kg loss (or about 42lbs)
I went to hospital, told them I hadn't eaten in 5 days, not slept in 5 days and suicidle, and I asked to be put on a drip, I was told 'People are pulled out of rubble after 10 days, go home, we don't want you here'.
I kid you not.
Someone had come with me too and heard it all.
State of the UK NHS Im afraid.

I am so angered and saddened to read all of this @DeanD . How the hospital staff could be so rude and awful to say what they have, insanity.
Glad you are seeing chiro. Maybe nerve compression somewhere? Also how long do you expect for your neurologist to get back to you regarding ruling our vagus nerve?
DeanD
Hey @ErikaS - I completely agree. It is disgusting a medical practioner would talk in such a way, especially to someone reaching out for nothing but help.
I do feel the link in my throat is spreading from or to my ears.
I was hoping for a response this week but perhaps it will be next.
I don't know what test they can do though to confirm vagus nerve, or what treatment could be offered
DeanD
How are things with you @ErikaS? - I read about your upcoming consultancy appointments which do sound promising!
