Tinnitus Talk Support Forum

Hi @MadeleineHope. I'm hanging in there. But every day is a struggle. How are you doing?
Merlin L
@TheFriendlyGhost, have you been seeing any improvement at all in your symptoms or tolerance?
MadeleineHope
*BIG HUGS* So sorry to hear that each day is a struggle; I can completely relate. Severe hyperacusis is such an incredibly cruel condition. Have you noticed any little improvements?
TheFriendlyGhost
@Merlin L @MadeleineHope
Yes, I have seen some small improvements. A little less stabbing pain at certain noises and a little less burning pain that I have 24/7. Mainly because I haven't been exposed to any digital noise and haven't talked much at all, and of course also because I managed to avoid loud noises quite well.
MadeleineHope
So glad to hear you're feeling at least a little better <3 Yeah, I don't listen to any digital audio either... that's one of the worst aggravaters of my symptoms. What is your current hearing protection situation like? And are you able to get our at all?
TheFriendlyGhost
@MadeleineHope
I use Peltor X5A almost all my waking hours. I am homebound :( Imagine if you could start your life over with the knowledge you have now. Nox and tinnitus are the devil on earth. What is your current hearing protection situation like?
MadeleineHope
Yeah, I've had that thought many times since getting H & T. I try to push it away though, because I know it won't help anything. I also remind myself that the vast majority of people are ignorant as far as hearing health is concerned, so I was no exception. But yeah, it's incredibly tough.
MadeleineHope
I'm essentially homebound as well. I go out occasionally (e.g., doc appt), but I always suffer the consequences.

At home, I can mostly be without earplugs, though I like to have some silicone earplugs hanging out of my ears a lot to dampen sound a bit. I do sleep with earplugs - mostly silicone, but lately foam because I live in a busy area & my ears have been burning more lately after my doc appt.

What is your living situation like? Do you live alone? Is your neighbourhood quiet or more on the busy side?
TheFriendlyGhost
@MadeleineHope
I live with my girlfriend. I hate that she has to see me like this.
I'd say it's a fairly quiet area, but there can be some very loud motorbikes passing by now during the summer. I live in an apartment and the neighbors can make some loud noise sometimes too. What is your living situation like?
