TTTS is mainly a thumping/fluttering sensation. For example, I can feel my ear thumps along with a sound like tapping on a microphone after many sounds, even quiet ones. Fullness is also common, although I've been told tinnitus from it is usually the hissing or buzzing variety.

I had the same thing happen 4 months in with my R ear. No thumping, just fullness and pure tone. It's my worse ear now. My left has the thumping, my right only occasionally

You can get aural fullness from hearing loss. Pure tone tinnitus seems to be most common from hearing loss. Although I have no measurable hearing loss and multiple pure tones so who really knows.

You can have a test for TTTS. Which I thought I had but its caused by stress and anxiety. My ear drum still flutters to sound but when I calm down it stops temporarily. I passed the TTTS test. Ear drum flutters, ear fullness went away when I calmed down in emotion. Go get tested! Because it can be treated.

@Mo8409 where can I get this done at? =)

@SarahMLFlemmer I believe the tests Mo is referring to are tympanometry & the acoustic reflex test. Audiologists regularly carry these out. Have you had a hearing test? Because if so, the likelihood is high that you've already had these tests.

Just an FYI though, the tests involve really loud sound (I believe 90 dB for the AR) & lots of pressure in your ear (tympanometry). So some people with hyperacusis advise against them. I personally declined mine after reading posts here, but my hyperacusis is severe.

@Mo8409 I've read that there's no cure for TTTS, other than severing the muscle?

Of course, it does settle down for many people with time.

@Mo8409 It's weird because what you describe is what I believe to be associated with TTTS. Do you know how your doc(s) defined the condition?
SarahMLFlemmer
@MadeleineHope I have had a hearing test but IDK if they did these other tests or not.
