@Strawberryblonde tbh I have questioned that. The headphones aren't switched on of course, they only cover the ears for a little more protection. Unfortunately wearing earplugs causing the spasms in my throat to worsen (catch 22 I'm afraid!). Maybe an occlusion effect, but then I would have to be brave venturing out without any protection to test it!
You really are caught between rock and hard place. I honestly have no suggestion as to what you can do to remedy your predicament. :/ I do think it was the occlusion effect playing a part in that. Maybe try without plugs just for a little while if you can handle that? @DeanD
@Strawberryblonde Yeah I do feel a bit like rock and hard place. Tinnitus screams often at a dB level I wouldn't even want to guess, and even noise of 30dB spikes it louder and changes its tone. I tried 6 weeks ago a full week of driving and going to quiet places without protection - but I felt I got worse to returned to earplugs and recently feel like I'm having to cocoon myself indoors again. May have to try again.
I've just come back from a walk in the country myself, my tinnitus seems to always roar after time outside. But today it was exceptionally loud while walking up the hills, but much quieter walking down
