@Tryn2BHopeful It was a shit appt. They make it out like I'll never get better. Said I had severe hyperacusis which I don't but that could be my fault so for ending the test early to get false results. I'd say I have mild hyperacusis because I live a normal life. Just sounds are a little loud to me.

@Tryn2BHopeful I'm also not a candidate for a masker hence the hearing sensitivity which makes sense. I have to build my way back up with sounds. They also think the Tinnitus isn't medication related at all and it's part of my brain malformation that was recently discovered. I still think it's medication but they don't think a low dose could cause it.

@Tryn2BHopeful I'm like it says right on the bottle! The side effects cause ringing in the ears! I know people who got it after 1 dose! Low dose medication can certainly cause it!

@Mo8409 I got the same song and dance about the medication not being the cause. I don't have the brain malformation, but they couldn't tell me what caused it either. It seems like its always a shit show with this disorder. I am gonna guess maskers wont work for me either because of the reactivity aspect of my T.... ugh...

@Mo8409 sorry it didn't go better! Did they suggest how to build your way back up with sounds?

@Mo8409 It sounds like they don't know how bad hyperacusis can be, how some people retreat to their rooms and seclude themselves from society. It sounds like yours is more mild like mine. A lot of sounds are perceived louder now, but I don't have to wear ear protection most of the time and feel comfortable for the most part.

@Tryn2BHopeful Yeah so I also learned reactive and hyperacusis are one in the same. I have a piece of paper for this. I wish I could send you a picture of it but to sum it up you find 2 or 3 noises that bother you and listen to that on video for 5 mins daily. You start off low and increase volume as time goes on. Continue doing that.

@Tryn2BHopeful Yours would be a fan noise. Mine are dishes and dogs barking.
