I never used medication to sleep since it's the cause of my shit show . I use YouTube music therapy or suffer. I am forcing my body to learn how to cope with the noise and fall asleep to it.
@4alien2 - I had Med resistant insomnia. Close to going insane from not sleeping more then an hour for months. Now my days dealing with T are so exhausting that I look forward to going to bed and shutting down. It's a miracle but it can happen. Sound machine with crickets is a must for me. Wish you some good sleep.
@4alien2 I've been taking melatonin for a few months now. It's usually 3mg but sometimes I'll cut it in half. It works pretty well for me and I haven't noticed any side effects other than sometimes being groggy throughout the day (could just be me too, I'm always tired lol)
Although I haven't seen side effects of taking melatonin daily, I'm still wary of the dangers. I cut the pills in half when I know I don't need that much of a dose. I also tend to buy brands that I feel are safer and not misleading. Even though I take it a lot, I still get tired even before taking it but I'm a horrible sleeper so it helps me out a lot.
19 months in since tinnitus worsening and still struggling with sleep. Melatonin, 1mg to 10mg, never has done a thing for my sleep. Other things like Magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, 5-HTP, GABA, Valerian, THC, CBD, Taurine, NAG, Lithium Orotate don't seem to have helped sleep, either. Zolpidem helps if I wake up overnight.
I hope your worsening gets better soon. my tinnitus has been bad for 4 months. I stopped all the drugs now I can't do anything to make it worse I'm really scared @RunningMan
@4alien2 Thanks. Unless there's a helpful treatment in the future, I think I'm stuck with my T and of course hearing loss. No improvement in 19 months and just new problems (hyperacusis, TTTS). So, I just hope I can get to a point I can live more easily with it instead of continued suffering of insomnia, anxiety, and depression. There might be more hope in your case for an improvement in T. Best wishes.
