It's a wonder for sure. I think maybe we subconsciously convince ourselves that this time is the worst and will be impossible to habituate to. Yet with enough time we somehow manage and I believe you will too. I've had to reevaluate and rehabituate twice already. It's tough for sure and I wish you a speedy habituation.
S
@BrOKeN_1 was your second habituation as good as the first? My first was very high level. Afraid I won't get back to something comparable.

I managed to rehabituate in just over a month to a much louder invasive tinnitus somehow. Compared to my original 6 month experience. Low dose ADs played a significant part I believe. (for me habituation is not being in fight or flight mode. having general anxiety is fine)
S
@BrOKeN_1 I've had an anti anxiety med(buspar) on hand for over a month. Terrified to take it. It might be time to give it a try. I can't continue like this. Scared of an increase due to the med.

@spedgas I can understand the hesitation. I use a low dose antidepressant. Fluoxetine 10mg. But I also keep an anti anxiety medication (lorazepam) around just in case I spiral. I've never personally spiked on benzos but I don't use them unless I have too. The fear of using the drug often outweighs the side effects. This has been my experience.

@BrOKeN_1 previous habituation for me was only noticing it a few times a day and not caring. Accompanied by perceived >50% volume reduction. Don't know if it was actually quieter, but it felt like it. Desperately need that back. Could almost turn attention to it off like a switch
Kabitz
How are you today bud ?
S
@Kabitz Very little has changed for me in the last 5 weeks. Spike still blaring and mood still declining. Close to breaking down and starting meds that were prescribed 5 weeks ago. Terrified to do so, but resistance is weakening.
Juliane
Sorry to hear you are struggling :-( I also think about escaping this world a lot. Are you able to sleep some?
S
@Juliane Yes, most nights I'm able to sleep good enough. A few times a week I'll wake up at 3ish am and struggle to go back to sleep, but overall okay.
