This may seem dumb.. I just started using a weighted blanket and my sleep almost immediately improved. May be coincidence however. Idk.
RunningMan
@BrOKeN_1 I bought one of those weighted blankets a few years ago, but it made no difference for me. I still go back to using it sometimes, but no help. Melatonin, magnesium, L-theanine, and various other supplements haven't helped. Zolpidem low dose overnight helps. I go to bed late and wake several times and never get enough sleep.

@RunningMan
would you recommend Zolpidem over anything else?
BrOKeN_1
@RunningMan it's been less then a week so could be coincidence. I also take 2mg of melatonin every night and 50mg trazodone on days I work.
RunningMan
I hate to recommend it because of tolerance and dependency. It has a short half life, so small dose in middle of night works without leaving me groggy. It didn't last long enough when I took a larger dose at bedtime and I didn't normally need it early in the night.
RunningMan
Some meds will last longer for sleep that I've never been prescribed, like Lunesta, Mirtazapine, Amitriptyline, and Trazadone. Sonata is similar Zolpidem but has an even shorter half life. There are always benzos, but there's always concern getting hooked on those. I sometimes take 0.5 mg Lorazepam in the early morning if I haven't already taken low dose Zolpidem for a couple hours.
cjbhab
I try to go through my routine and be sleeping by 1130 but sometimes it takes 2 to 3 business days to fall asleep.
RunningMan
There's another type of sleep med in the DORA class (dual orexin receptor antagonists), but they are new enough that there are no generics, so out of pocket costs can be high. Dayvigo is one that has had both good and bad feedback here on TT.

@RunningMan
I had my doctor write a script today for 5 mg of Zolpidem
RunningMan
I have 10 mg tablets, but I have never taken a whole tablet. I break them up into 6 or 7 pieces. I try to get by with one piece overnight, like at 3 AM, but sometimes two and rarely three. Is your plan to take at bedtime?
Supersix
@RunningMan
Yes, I cut mine in half, 2.5MG. Will that put me to sleep? I haven't taken one yet. I should have done this morning when I woke up at 4 am, 4 hours total sleep, a light sleep. I was worried about how loud my T would be when I woke up
RunningMan
2.5mg is more than I normally take, and it would put me to sleep unless my anxiety is too high or had already slept like 5 or 6 hours. Definitely best to start with a lower dose to see what it takes. I actually take my overnight doses sublingual to get into the system quickly.
Supersix
@RunningMan
2.5Mg can't be much. I would think anything less; you would wake in an hour or two?
RunningMan
Yeah. 2.5mg is half standard dose. But in my case, I'm taking partial doses just to get me back asleep and hoping that once I am asleep, I'll stay asleep. Sometimes it's an hour, sometimes two or three. I haven't taken at bedtime in months.

@RunningMan
I'm trying to get my regular sleep routine back. I used to fall asleep with no problem, but these few months, I went backward with anxiety, panic attacks, and a little insomnia. That bad trip on Trazadonne F-K me up. I am afraid to take this new pill.Im going to start with 1MG.. Lol

@RunningMan
Lorazepam doesn't spike my T. I'm hoping this new Zolipdiem doesn't spike my T
crescentsky
I try and stay up as late (12 am to 2 am) as I can until I physically pass out to avoid being dependent on meds and then make this dumb shit T worse.
RunningMan
My tinnitus varies, but no spikes with low dose zolpidem over many months or 0.5mg lorazepam occasionally recently for me. I had to take 2 pieces of zolpidem last night to get back to sleep after 3 AM. Was feeling anxiety on top of T. Then slept a few hours. Took lorazepam after 7 for morning anxiety - the 0.5mg pill never seems to help much.

I try to go natural as much as possible. Recently, I have had to be more dependent on Lorazopam at night only, and I take half of 0.5, which is not very much. I have been in this vicious cycle that I have never experienced in 8 years with tinnitus. I'm finally coming out of it. I am going to start drinking Chamomile tea before bed and try 2.5 Melatonin

@RunningMan
I didn't try the Zolpidem last night. The night before was rough, and I had a shitty day yesterday, and I had a lot of anxiety thinking about sleeping pills spiking my T and going through a Trazadone hell. Lol, I proceeded with half of a Lazo, went to bed at 11 pm, woke up at 4 am, went back to sleep right away, and woke up at 7 am.
