Hydroxyzine was one of the first meds prescribed to me after tinnitus spiked to new level 21 months ago. I didn't think it helped my sleep at all in those early weeks. But, it does seem to help now if I take before bedtime, so I use it occasionally. Zolpidem knocks me out when I wake up in the middle of the night.

@RunningMan He also put me on Lexapro. I should have been on it as a kid. I have had lousy anxiety my entire life and never took medication.

How many MG of Hydroxyzine did you take?
RunningMan
@Supersix I was prescribed lex also 10mg. I always took it with a meal but always had stomach discomfort all day which became very painful some days at 5+ weeks, while the medication didn't help at all. Dropped to 5mg at 6 weeks and still stomach discomfort and no benefit at 7 weeks. PPI, Pepcid, Pepto, antacids didn't help the stomach. So looks like will have to wean off from 5 mg now.

I am starting with 10mg. I split them in half for daytime use when needed. The instructions say to take 1-3 for bedtime.

My Hydroxyzine are 25mg. I only take 1 pill on occasion, but I did try taking 2 pills fairly close together once back when my insomnia was brutal, and they weren't too helpful back then. They do help a little now, but I take them sparingly to prevent tolerance. I'm not even sure if my dr. will refill at this point since the original script was over 21 months ago with 1 refill that I already got.

Do you have different pills cut up in little pieces on your nightstand?
