You are a fighter @Forever hopeful I know how hard this can be as I've been in restaurants and so forth with screaming ears many times - which eventually got better. Sometimes we have to take a step back, and just say no. Tell your husband that might not be a good idea next time - the circumstances given? The surroundings in a restaurant might add extra fuel to the situation.

@MindOverMatter Thank you. To clarify, It wasn't the noise level that made my tinnitus bothersome, it was the occlusion effect of the heavy duty ear protection. Ugh. You can't win. I look around at all these people and wonder how they can sit in the noisy environments unprotected. My husband included. And he has loud tinnitus. Doesn't bother him at all.

I understand @Forever hopeful - but nonetheless, with our "guards up"/when external stress is added, it sure doesnt make things easier. Especially if you need to plug your ears with heavy duty foam and such. Id opt for a more quite place next time, if I were you, for now.

Personally I never liked dining out in loud places even before all this. I prefer the more quiet venues.
