Tinnitus Talk Support Forum

What a cluster we are in - that's for sure. I wonder the same thing every Minute. Talked to another guy that has Blasting T 20 years. He is 50. Getting worse. Does not care. Concerts you name it. No way with my ears.

I envy that mentality

@Tryn2BHopeful we don't have a choice. Some days are hard, but you learn what you can and can't do. I does get better over time.

@4Grace Regular T may not bother him, but if he ever developed reactive T, hyperacusis, noxacusis, or distortions, he'd definitely go insane.

I ask myself this as well. I don't know how I still manage to not die.

@Tryn2BHopeful - I envy that too. So much. Dream about it constantly. It's almost what I feel I need to do. I get not going to concerts and stuff but that's it. I have been going out the last few days. Just day things. T getting worse. Honest. It's worse. :(

@HearingHell - can you please explain. One guy I know has loud T and bad hearing loss. He cuts tiles every day with a hand grinder. No hearing protection. For years! T loud as hell. How does he not develop Nox of H? I see this guy smiling everyday. When he gets up he says the sound is so loud he gets up with a migraine. When he starts working he forgets about his T.

@HearingHell - I have reactive T. Much worse when I get out of the shower. Walk on a windy day. Foods, movement, clenching my teeth pressing on the right side of my head. It sucks. Some people have T and it's just steady. It seems that for some people it never gets worse? I mean the tile guy must have reached his peak?

I think you need to find your "new normal" @Tryn2BHopeful , and adjust to it. Acceptance and time is key to this. Resilience. Find the balance that works for you. It will still be challenging. I think we have to accept it to be somewhat different. But different can also be good. Nothing in life is perfect.

@4Grace It's possible that hyperacusis and noxacusis may be genetic. Perhaps, most people will never develop those conditions because they don't have the genes for it? That may explain why most people, including your tile cutting friend, will never get H or N, no matter how much noise exposure they have. Just a theory though.

I feel like a broken robot or alien. Doing this for my kids.
4Grace
@HearingHell - that has to be true. Maybe not related but I always had severe motion sickness. Had a few concussions. No question has to be something with genes.
Tryn2BHopeful
@MindOverMatter I find the problem with me finding my new normal, is my family accepting it. So I pretend everything is fine, this forum is about the only place I ever display the way I feel on a daily basis, even then I hold a certain amount of it in. Its ironic that such a "noisy" condition forces us to suffer in "silence". Habituation/acceptance is my goal, the only goal.
Tryn2BHopeful
@SarahMLFlemmer Same here. If it wasn't for my kids I dont think I would be on this forum, and not because I was cured.
