@dan - it's a long unique story. Short period benzo and Ad use. 3 ADs no more then 7 days each. One 6 weeks worth. All from a Cancer scare. 7 month pill resistant insomnia. 45 minute major noise trauma. Another 10 min major noise trauma. All in and around the same time. Always used in ear buds for music when working out. I would say meds, stress, noise trauma and ear abuse growing up. Life was perfect before T.
@4Grace you cant go unprotected in a parking lot, dont matter how uncomfortable it feels in it. Peltors or earbuds are a must if you want to stop getting worse. If you can just put'em in/on in high risk areas. You have to learn how to do a "risk assessment" in situ. Like when you arrive at a shopping place, the walk from your car to inside the building must use protection *car alarms, honks, sirens
@dan the truth you posted above is what will kill me. Oh my God. It's true. My T has recently doubled in volume. I can't do the protection. It's painful. It's too loud with it on. Plus I have gone to some loud places.
@dan why can some people just go everywhere with T. Why did mine have to be so different. Why can I not accept the above. I am only getting worse every day. I am not going to make it.
@dan - did you see the YouTube video I sent on my profile. I am fn done. I can't do the protection. I need masking. Ear plugs cause my ear canals to burn. Muffs make my T unbearable. I am terrified. Honest to God I can't do this.
Tonight is the worst night of my life. My T has never been louder. I know so many people that have T and just live. Why did mine have to be like this. My God!!!!
No I havent seen the Youtube video, and by the way Youtube videos arent safe for us, so dont binge watch them. Have a "normie" vett a video for any weird/loud/unnatural sounds before you watch it. There have been many cases here (including me) who had a spike from them. Needless to say do NOT listen to digital "tinnitus like" sounds, ever.
@dan - my masking sounds are probably not safe for me too. I can't survive without them. I feel like I'm a train wreck ready to happen. Or it has already happened. For most the sound would not bother them. What's unique about us? Reactive. Too damaged?
@dan the problem with me is that I cannot endure the life required of my condition. It's almost worse than the condition. I have a friend with T he installs tiles for a living. Uses a hand held tile grinder everyday. No hearing protection. How? He has T so loud I the am he takes Tylenol every am. He does not hear his T at work but it's blasting when his day is done.
