Tinnitus Talk Support Forum

Many ppl are chronically ill. I am & have been long before I got tinnitus. You'd never know by looking at me bc it's an "invisible" illness. Much like tinnitus is "invisible." It's debilitating like tinnitus is but in a different way. Many ppl suffer but don't talk about it, same w tinnitus. Especially w invisible ailments, people tend to not take you seriously, & you learn pretty quick to just shut up abt it sadly

Most people have a health problem and they go to the doctor and the doctor provides them a solution to either eliminate the problem or make it more manageable.

when i go to the doctor they laugh in my face and tell me to **** off.

I been living with chronic issues for 20+ years. It changes some things around but manageable. Felt/had most control of my life/happy for the most part. T on the other hand is a curse. You can try everything and believe everything, but the fucker is a leech and will not leave. I want to say nothing is like T. It rapes you of everything and haunts you every second, moment of your life.

Yes, there are a lot of chronic health issues, many can be quite debilitating.

I didn't have a perfect life before T, I've lost years to other issues that ithers couldn't see. There are lots of chronic health issues that are debilitating in there own way. This is why i constantly say suffering is relative, and we have no idea what someone else suffers with like they don't know what it's like to suffer from this.

@cjbhab Many people with an acute health problem can go to a doctor and have it fixed, yes. Chronic is another story.

@PennyCat How many of those chronic issues are as distressing as severe T and H? i'd venture to guess not many, but even us sufferers walk around minimizing our condition. We will never have a cure because of it.

@cjbhab I would say a big # of them are as bad, some far worse. For ex, I found out abt a condition called epidermolysis bullosa. Majority of the skin is basically an open wound. You likely haven't heard of it like ppl haven't w T. Not trying to diminish T suffering bc I know we suffer. But I don't think trying to minimize other ppls chronic issues/saying they aren't as bad as T is something you should b doing either

The comparison game isn't fair and also isn't going to help anybody's mental health or suffering in any way. People suffer from horrible ailments and have their bodies betray them all of the time. Tinnitus sucks complete ass, but so do many other chronic ailments. There is plenty of room for all of them to suck lol
