Don't miss the opportunity to attend Tinnitus Quest's online Q&A with Dr. Susan Shore and Jon Pearson, CEO of Auricle on October 13. We will hear the latest about the Susan Shore Device.
@sakrt I've had an MRI, CTA, CTV, cerebral venogram, and then the cerebral angiogram. The cerebral angiogram was to get a more detailed look at the arteries, and it found the aneurysm that the CTA missed
@sakrt It was painful because they have to make an incision in an artery in the groin, & then thread a catheter w/ a camera all the way up into the head & neck, move it to various places & inject contrast dye to get images. I could feel a lot of pressure as the catheter moved, & the contrast dye burned really bad. I could feel it radiate into my tongue, ear, teeth.
@sakrt And the pain when they take the catheter out & have to mess with the artery, close it up, etc was unbearable :,) The whole thing lasted about 1.5 hours. Then I had to lay flat for 2 hours after to make sure the artery didn't bleed and a nurse checked the site every 15 min. My cerebral venogram was pretty much painless so I was surprised how bad the angiogram hurt. And thank you for the kind words <3
Do you have a theory to why this one was so different compared to the venogram? Maybe different dye? I had a reaction by one CTA, with it's dye strongly burning. Not fun
@sakrt I'm not sure, but I'm wondering if maybe it was more painful because they're going through the arteries instead of the veins. But I'm not sure why the contrast burned so bad, since it didn't for my venogram or any CTs I've had. It is indeed not fun :(
