Tinnitus Talk Support Forum

Unfortunately a gradual go back (2-3 days a week for a couple weeks, then increasing) was not an option. I will have hearing protection with me and on me at all times, however I think it's time to invest in custom plugs. Although I want to make sure the plugs I'm using don't completely amplify my voice when talking, so need to have filtered feature.

Any advice on going back into the workplace, such as a school, is appreciated! I'm not a teacher, so I don't have a classroom of children, I have anywhere from 1-3 children in 30 minute increment sessions in my speech room with 10 minutes in between each session, then a lunch, and a planning period.

This is such good news @ErikaS. Really happy for you.

You got this, @ErikaS . It's probably going to take some time to get back to the grind. Took me a while to adjust with tinnitus while working. Just take it slow and don't push yourself hard.

Sounds like a pleasant environment to be in IMO. Nothing alarming.

Speaking of alarms….

my only advice would be to speak directly to school administrators (the principal or safety officer) regarding fire drills, to request advance notice of scheduled practice drills for your own well-being and health reasons. Best to be prepared for those events .

I think you are incredibly brave doing this.

Please keep us updated on how it goes.
