What do you mean by popping? Like your middle ear bones are thumping your ear drum? Or the popping crunchy noise when you swallow? kind of like a crackle
Hi @Marshall. It's like a wet crackling in my middle ear every time I swallow or yawn. It does not crackl when I chew or move my jaw so it's unlikely to be a TMJ symptom. It's uncomfortable and loud sound. I can hear it only when I swallow my salvia or when I flex with my muscles that are connected to my eustachian tubes. I can open and close them on command. I never had this ability before T and H
This is gonna sound like I'm gas lighting you, and I used to think what and how you are thinking about it. I thought the crackling was a bad thing that I never had before... but just like your nose always being in your vision 24/7, or being able to feel your tongue in your mouth at all times, but your brain had always blocked it out of your consciousness.
I promise you that your ears have always crackled, you just never paid attention to it until you had ear issues. Your brain is just hyper focused on your ears bc the T and H. Everyone I've asked IRL has the same thing, and I asked everyone bc I'm a hypochondriac. It's a normal part of swallowing and yawning bc your ears are just equalizing pressure. Hope this helps
I have the same ear crackling too. I describe the popping as 'squishy' because it sounds like bubbles popping, it used to pop when i swallow (not as much now). My ears pop when i flex my muscles (around the ears), when i sneeze and blow my nose. The popping is different than fluttering, for me.
