I think my volume rarely changes but some days its much harsher than others. Its like it has more "grit" to it.

I think my single tone squealing days are the worse. They sound louder, also, though. My best days are more of a hiss, when it's more broken up and less intense. There is some variation in volume but can always hear it over the TV and everywhere except the shower.
I don't know if I hear it over the shower or with the shower. I can certainly hear it when I listen in the shower.
@Tryn2BHopeful My shower is so loud, and it blends in with my high frequency tinnitus. I can't isolate the tinnitus sound with the shower running. But I'll still hear it in the summer over the crickets and cicadas outside.
