OMG, you are the first one I has somewhat similar issues . I have had two spikes in last two months which became the new base level. Each time it happened when I wear the deep plug while sleeping.i ahve multiple tones. There is one tone if I am not hearing it and push deep into my ear canal with finger or ear plug, that tone comes back .so weird

@Simron2314 I have worn them 2-3 times in past 3 months, the two times in a bit louder environments (a gathering at someone's house and an outside gathering, nothing crazy at all). Wore them to protect, but I swear when I talk, the occlusion effect exacerbates my ears so much worse than with them out. My distortions came back after the second time I wore them. I am convinced I cannot wear deep in-ear plugs.
I pray this is not my new base level, I'm trying to stay hopeful that in time and taking it easy, they will calm down just like they have calmed down before. They just haven't been this spiked in a long time 
@Simron2314 When did the tinnitus start for you? I wouldn't jump to a conclusion that a new base is here based on the past 4 days. When you have variable, reactive tinnitus like I do, I have to try to remind myself unless it's like 2+ months or so, it could change/improve/vary/etc.
At my baseline, the tinnitus loudness would probably be around a 3 when stable, but go up to a 5-6 when sick or after a noise event that was loud enough to cause a spike lasting more than 24 hrs. However it's also reactive, so it can temporarily be louder at baseline but calm down over an hour or so.
My first permanent worsening was in April 2023, 7 months after onset. I went to Cancun and wore good ear protection most of the time. Didn't matter, was way too much too soon. I stabilized 7 months later and had my best run with this condition from December 2023-May 2024.
