Sometimes it's reactive, sometimes not. I can eat out or go shopping if it's a quiet environment with no music, but sadly, almost everywhere I go, they play music, and I get a burning ache from that, even if I wear ear protection.
Two weeks ago, I made the mistake of going into a bookstore for 20 minutes and a sandwich shop for 15 minutes, both with loud music. The earmuffs seemed helpful, but I still had a symptom spike afterward, and it hasn't gone away yet.
