Tinnitus Talk Support Forum

Hello Marcello. Sadly my sleep is only getting worse.
All the treatments prescribed by my psychiatrist are no longer working (45 mg Mirtazapine, melatonin, Alimemazine).
I'm totally desperate. I've been suffering from noise trauma for 6 years now, and it's only getting worse.
Fortunately I'm allowed to telework a few days a week. If I didn't have that opportunity it would be impossible for me to carry on.

Unfortunately, I can't give you any advice as any of the medications I mentioned no longer help. I'm not even sure whether it's the tinnitus that's getting worse or whether the body is getting used to the treatments, making them ineffective. I think it's a combination of both.

Man this is truly sad. In your case, 45mg of mirtazapine has less of a sleep-inducing effect and more of a serotonergic effect. Talk to your doctor and strongly consider a combination of 15mg of mirtazapine and 25 or 50mg of quetiapine together, this will have a much better histamine effect for your case. Quetiapine is safe.

I did manage to lower Mirtazapine to 15mg, but after some months, my sleep was catastrophic again so my psychiatrist prescribed 45mg again.
He did prescribed me Quetiapine as well last time I saw him. He told me that it is stronger than Alimemazine.
