    I'm totally off playing it at the minute Petronius. And I am a rank amateur. I really don't know what happened as it didn't feel uncomfortable and alive been in lots of loud environments.

    It's the same noise, just louder and more intrusive/piercing. I also get this shimmering echoing sound which I've had before and comes on when the main noise is loud but when it's was quiet I don't hear it. I spoke to Yamaha and they said my piano, played at full effort, can reach approx 85 decibels, but I'm a rank amateur.

    85 is not too dangerous, and it was probably just peaking at 85 once in a while. Btw, I also play the piano/keyboard, just not much lately.

    I woke the day after Petronius with a noticeable increase.

    Is it the same as your baseline just louder or different?

    I feel like playing piano is not loud enough to cause a major spike.

    Stress does funny things. My spike is noise induced so I'm pretty worried it's permanent

    I doubt it's going to be permanent if it's only one noise event that caused it. Are you sure you got the spike from playing piano?

    Hi Petronius - you said in a response to me that you had gone through similar and it eventually quietened down. How long did it take may I ask and was the spike as a result of noise? Thanks - Allan

    Hi Allan. I think it was more likely that a few stressful events caused it, which made me focus on it and that made it worse. The spike started in mid Jan, and then got a bit worse in Feb and March. It took a while for me to stop being anxious about it, so it was only in May that I started to feel like it got better or I became more used to it.

    When I got into a more positive mind-set and stopped monitoring and listening to my T so much, the sound moved slightly more into the back of my head and became less sharp. Sadly, my T has recently spiked again due to another stressful period.
