  • @oceanofsound26 - are there any ear plugs that let sound till a level (say 60 decibel) normally although anything above 60 decibel they reduce by ~20 decibel.
You seem very informed about muscular issues. When I bend my head towards my chest, sometimes my tinnitus gets louder or I get a short fleeting T. I have tight shoulders and a sore neck. Do you have any ideas on how to work on this? I am scared it's vascular but the tinnitus isn't pulsatile. Do you have any idea? Do you know fleeting T to be affected my muscle tension? I'm pretty anxious about it all. Thanks
@oceanofsound26 .. need advise on how to recover from low level of vitamin b12. Which brand is best and what is optimal dosing? My physician recommends 1000mcg per day for 3 months. That seems too high dosage?
    With Regards,
    Mohn.

The dosing question is a question for a medical professional. I found 5000 mcg per day gave constant pins and needles sensations though so went back to 1000 mcg.

@oceanofsound26 - tx for response. I am getting that sensation just after one week of ~1000 mcg dosage (am taking b12 spray since that was advised). How many days did the sensation last for you? also how much was your b12 level when you started supplements and how many months did it take to get to normal range (I was at level 190 when I started with supplements)

Never the had the pins and needles with the 1000 mcg dose. I cannot remember my exact Vit B12 level when I started as that was over a year ago now but it was borderline low but got back up to normal levels after 4 months. Did not help my tinnitus though but I am fully habituated now so my tinnitus does not bother me.
If you have a misaligned atlas and bad posture, you likely have issues with your sacrum and SI joint as well. If suspected, see a doc or PT.
If you have bad posture and somatic tinnitus and noise damage is not suspected, try releasing and stretching the Piriformis muscle.
The human body is a single kinetic chain. Realigning the feet, ankles, knees, and hips can help stretch muscles and realign the spine.
    oceanofsound26
All of which can help cause atlas misalignment, TMJ thru TM joints coming out of the joint space and jaw misaligning (possibly rotating as well following the atlas), ETD, breathing difficulties, potential blood flow issues, and a host of other problems.

Luckily, once the chain of misalignment and dysfunction is mapped and understood, these problems are fixable.
    oceanofsound26
Seriously - Check your feet and then see if your neck, shoulders/torso, and hips/pelvis are permanently torqued to one side or the other. For every misalignment or imbalance in the human kinetic chain, there is an equal and opposite compensation that occurs downstream.
Hi @oceanofsound26 ! Have you tried upper cervical chiro yet? Hope you're well! :)
    oceanofsound26
Yes. My chiro is trained in Atlas Orthogonal, NUCCA, and Chiropractic Biophysics. Had three months of AO adjustments from previous chiro 2x a week, and never maintained it. Switched to new chiro and started to maintain my atlas adjustment after 2 visits which has sustained for 6 weeks.

I've been having NUCCA adjustments for about 3 mos. Seeing improvement of migraines but not t, yet - I'm hopeful! Also doing physio which seems to be helping with migraines. Is the treatment working for you?
If you tend to supinate, consider trying a cheap pair of zero drop minimalist shoes with a wide toe box. Plenty on Amazon for <$40.
For tinnitus due to neck problems, carefully test range of motion in shoulders and rotator cuffs.
    oceanofsound26
If you have tight neck muscles, your shoulders may be dysfunctional as well. Releasing, stretching, and strengthening the pecs, shoulder, rotator cuff, upper/mid back, and intercostal muscles helped me.
    oceanofsound26
Start slow and do not overdo it as the neck is a very delicate and important area.
Gait fixed, lumbar curve restored, and back/neck/shoulder pain 90% gone. Once I release top 2 ribs, hopefully tinnitus will go away also.
Check for external/internal rotation of the hips and tibias.
    oceanofsound26
Then check for under-/over-pronation, medial/lateral rotation, and adduction/abduction in your feet.
    oceanofsound26
If you have any of these, part of your upper body is probably counter-rotated to compensate; all of which can rotate and counter-rotate your spine at different locations. Get your gait checked and see a PT or osteopath or other medical professional to check for spinal rotation and exercises to fix it.

My favorite for the last two days - Supine Groin Stretch. While doing it, I can feel the intercostal muscles in the chest and ribs loosening and after I can use two fingers to pull apart the paraspinal muscles around to thoracic spine and massage/loosen them to gain greater range of motion in that region. A breakthrough maybe...tinnitus fixed...not yet. Will continue to monitor.
If you think your tinnitus is at least in part caused by jaw, TMJ, and neck problems, then check for under- or over-pronation in your feet.
    oceanofsound26
The misalignment in my neck and jaw matches what would be predicted based on under-pronation of my feet.
    oceanofsound26
Been wearing the orthotics for two days now. I carry most of my weight towards the front half of my feet. Constantly shifting my weight back to my heels to stand up straight now which triggers tension in my legs which always returns even with daily stretching. Hopefully this and some neuromuscular reprogramming will be the ultimate keys to my treatment and tinnitus resolution.
    oceanofsound26
Moral of the story - consider the lower part of the body. Misalignment between the feet, ankles, knees, and hips likely contribute to problems with the neck and jaw.
So what was the treatment my friend? Any luck with sleep?
    oceanofsound26
Actually prepping a post on sleep now. My life is in flux right now and will be moving across country in March and starting a new job in April. My treatment plan was developed from notes that span two full 3-subject notebooks. Check recent posts I have made. Details are in some of them. Considering an alternative to forum posts right now for a better way to disseminate what I do to others.
    oceanofsound26
Regardless my tinnitus has improved greatly and disappears completely about 20% of the time now as things get back into proper alignment. Hopefully for full resolution in the next year or so.

Thank you for the information. Your posts on the forum have been extremely helpful to me early on in this journey. My T fluctuates day-to-day and throughout the day does not seem to be getting worse at present. Having run the gauntlet of things that could be causing my T, I am pretty sure I have narrowed it down to TMJ and related neck problems. Plan to start treatment soon.

Thank you for your kind words.

If your T is a result of TMJ, you are in luck. A number of people here (e.g., @threefirefour ) got rid of their T after their TMJ got treated.
    oceanofsound26
Both the neuromuscular dentist and chiro said I have it. Just need to see if getting it treated will help my T.
