  • I have the worst anxious habit of biting my inner lips and cheek. Probably terrible for my whole jaw/muscular system
Having a good cry. It doesn't really help but it's happening
    Damocles
damn you Ariana Grande for making that sound so not cool when I say it now... damn you to hell!
    Lurius
The first 9-10 months I cried like a little kid at least once every week. I haven't cried like that in a really long time now. Years. Instead I have this constant feeling of always being a little on edge.

I wasn't even necessarily crying because of my T...I think caffeine withdrawals just make me sensitive
Caffeine headache was too brutal last night, boyfriend and I both took fast acting liquid gel aleve to fall asleep
    Jebbis
No spike today, just normal. Headache is a lot better.
I don't think ibuprofen does anything to my particular tinnitus.
    Can you Valsalva too hard?
    Jebbis
@kingsfan I've been noticing that when I do it, the ear that has tinnitus seems not to open as efficiently as my left, and even squeaks sometimes. It's weird
    Freerunner
@kingsfan , did the spike subside? I just did the Valsalva ( really slow and gently) and once I felt pressure I stopped immediately. However, I have a spike and I wonder if it can go down...
    kingsfan
Ugh. Ok, I'm ok with this spike, I can deal with it, but I still want to know why! Maybe because no coffee suddenly?
Having a spike. Feeling frustrated. I want to understand so bad. I want to understand this.
    Tatsopa
A lot of us are in the same space, just wanting to understand but this thing has a life on its own. I had a good week, almost felt like my own self, then boom... Guess who's back... Fuck this shit.
Sometimes after car ride, sound is extremely low. Other times, pretty high. Weird
Anyone else with unilateral (one-sided) T get a weird pressure sensation in the eyeball on the side of the T?
Does it mean anything that I can TOTALLY modulate my T sound by plugging my ear pretty hard?
    Kriszti
Then we have something similar. Mine does not stop if I use earplugs, but finger in ear and covering it with my hand do the trick. For a couple of seconds it also stops if I cover my other ear. I think it has something to do with pressure, but I may be totally wrong.
    Kriszti
For me it normally goes away/gets barely audible after a couple of weeks, but last fall I had it for months.
    Jebbis
@Kriszti oh ok. I have had mine nonstop 24/7 since September. It never goes away for any amount of time. Mine also is still there with ear plugs. Weird ears
Just found out someone in my friend group has had tinnitus since he was 10. He has never mentioned it until I asked. Dang. Thats a mindset.
    Lurius
I discovered the same thing in 2018. A guy I've known since I was 18 years old has had Tinnitus since he was like 5 years old. It doesn't bother him in any way, shape or form.
    Damocles
Maybe, but there's a difference between having tinnitus and having "tinnitus".
I mean, looking at my stats, I say I've had T since 2009, but technically it's been since I was 14; it's just that for 7 years it was mild. Still, if anyone asked I'd say "oh yeah, I have that".
If only I had known what a joke my "tinnitus" was back then compared to what others were suffering.
I so often cringe thinking of my younger self.
    Jebbis
@Damocles i mean, I'd say he still gets bothered by it. I only asked him about it because he was messing with his ears...I was like "hey are your ears all good?" And he was like "ahh. My tinnitus is acting up, its just all the time"
I do have moments where I truly, fully accept it, and i have peace, but my brain doesn't like to stay there because it feels complacent???
My boyfriend massaged my neck this morning (I have this chronic knot on the side of my T) and had a spike after. Is that normal?
Just made a doc appointment, feeling a bit better. Hopefully I can make some progress, its a new doctor.
When I wiggle my ears, the one that has T makes all these crunchy sounds/feelings. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Woke up with a really tight jaw and sore neck. Slight spike today. Ugh. I need a night guard bad
The chronic headaches suck so bad.
    Jebbis
@Steph1710 ah I'm so sorry to hear that..head pain really is such a bummer. Mine gets worse in the extreme cold and extreme heat but I don't think I'd consider it migraine level...I am terribly sorry you deal with chronic pain like that. I should feel lucky, mine is mostly motion induced so if I stay still it sometimes goes away
    Steph1710
@Jebbis yeah the weather definitely impacts mine - the cold especially. Even if yours aren't migraines, headaches still suck. Tbh, my health is so shit, the migraines are the least of my problems haha! Still, we've gotta keep going, haven't we. How have your ears been btw? X
    Jebbis
@Steph1710 yes we must persevere. My ears are doing okay, still ringy dingy in the right one but the tone has been changing which gives me hope that it might fade into a hiss. How are your ears? Are you still feeling dizzy? I'm blessed that I haven't encountered any balance problems yet
I wonder whose bright idea it was to superimpose tinnitus ringing into movies and shows to make them seem more stressful. Like dude.

Also love how after they've blown your eardrums out with the deafening explosions/effects/score, they make you strain to hear imperceptibly soft dialogue. It's a job manning the volume.
    Jebbis
@Tweedleman lmao yeah! I have a hard time watching a lot of Hollywood productions. They could take a page of advice from us
