@cjbhab My hearing is perfectly fine too despite all the abuse. I had very light ringing at night when going to bed that never bothered me.

I was prepared to lose some hearing at some point in my life. I, however, was NOT prepared for the torment of loud tinnitus.

@kingsfan, So the mild ringing eventually got worse. What caused this increase? For me, everything started after a day of listening to loud music with headphones, but it’s extremely, extremely intense.

@MiaVIL it feels like there is a muscle physically twitching in my ear. it can get pretty violent when it is bad. When it is mild it sounds like somebody tapping on a microphone. It’s very difficult to sleep or concentrate with the sound and physical sensations. My regular T is multiple tones. and i have a lot of intermittent sudden high frequency blasts of t that bring dizziness.

They do not know about being careful around noise. Honest. They live. Never get worse. Concerts. Construction. I think most people fall in this category.

@Bob3382 6 months is still quite recent, so there’s a good chance your situation will improve, even if the tinnitus itself doesn’t decrease. The first few months can be extremely confusing and it’s normal to feel like relief is out of reach.

I think we have a good chance of being largely relieved of tinnitus in 10 years, though maybe not for all subtypes. On the other hand, I’m afraid that hyperacusis will remain a lifelong challenge. If my tinnitus could be alleviated, it would be one less torture; I’d be able to sleep better, and life would be a bit easier.
