  • Something is still haywire in my left ear. I'm getting a CT scan of the temporal bone done. I wanted a CT scan done of my TMJ but am unable to find a Dr. to order one.
I wonder if an infected tooth root can cause tinnitus? I just got my left lower molar extracted after a panoramic dental X-ray showed some issues with at least 2 of my teeth.
I got some relief using an EarPopper. I think there is some inflammation in my left Eustachian tube possibly causing the tinnitus.
I had a very quiet head today and got quite a few things done. I wish today was repeatable but my history says it's not very likely unfortunately.
I was doing pretty well today until I ate at the Olive Garden. Probably too much salt got into my bloodstream (from the soup and breadsticks) and then into my inner ear.

Must have been the restaurant noise.

It was quiet in the restaurant at the time as it was about 3:30 pm in the afternoon. Today my noise is primarily in my left ear.
I'm doing good right now, feeling normal and quiet. I'm not sure if drinking diluted DMSO plus putting some in my ear canal is helping? Time will tell.
I have bad static noise in my left ear once again that is really annoying. DMSO seemed to help short term but now I'm back to this torment.
From what I understand DMSO can be beneficial for tinnitus either taken orally, put topically on your skin, or drops in the ear. I'm still learning the doses that are safely used.
A spine doctor that fused my back mentioned using DMSO for my tinnitus. It is liquid and I put some by my ear/ jaw area with a pad.
I had one great day and seemed back to normal only to turn noisy again. No easy fix. I might try Cymbalta but hate side effects.
I'm seem to be doing better while trying a 6 day tapered Methylprednisolone. I had to try something as I was doing terrible with tinnitus and also arthritis pain.

Hi, glad to read you're doing a little better. Were you prescribed the Methylprednisolone for your arthritis?

Thanks @Fields. I was desperate with the tinnitus in my left ear. I asked an ENT if I could try the steroid and they said okay. I just finished my last dose today. I'm going to try to taper off Lyrica. My nervous system is not good today and left ear is noisy.
So far my tinnitus hasn't gotten better since my Total Jaw Replacement. It does hurt in my left jaw/ear when using an EarPopper.
I keep napping during the day all the time and awakening to distressing static noise mostly in left ear.

I'm having the same exact problem going on here lately. I've had tinnitus for over 7 years, but the last 3-4 years it haven't bothered me at all. 3 weeks ago it went haywire out of nowhere, and each time I wake up it sounds like I have a old TV inside my left ear. Usually it chills out a bit through the day, and at nighttime its down to a 2/10. Next morning tho? Back to 7/10 for several hours.
