Hard to say for sure. I am 62 and my T is much worse than it was 10 years ago when I considered it mild. However my hearing loss has remained the same for the past 25 years or so.

When my T is at its worse my ears actually hurt as if they were listening to a loud external noise.

I stopped taking benzos about 2 years ago. I was up to a max. dosage of 6 mg a day. Even though I tapered off of these on a gradual basis of several months, final withdrawl was hell. Be very careful with these seemingly harmless but addictive drugs.

I have had 2 or 3 MRI since onset of tinnitus. Always wore earplugs and noticed no change in the T. Also had contrast injections but again no change. Only problem I have with MRI is the confined space. Used to not bother me but does for some reason now..

I take a 30 mg pill of Remeron when things get bad..Remeron was prescribed for my depression but did little for it. It has proven to be a very effective sleep aid for me but I seem to get immune to it if taken daily so I limit my use to the bad days.
