    Alive and Kicking!

Pills that contain a natural melatoin extract. They seem to help me stay asleep or get back to sleep if I wake in the night...they don't help me get to sleep but I'm ok with that at the moment anyway. TRT in my experience was basically talking to an expert about your fears regarding Tinnitus. I...

    Need Help

Garden ring - dunno how you're going now. I got an inner ear virus 6 mths back. Horrendous volume. I had anxiety attacks as well. A friend who has them constantly told me a simple breathing technique - Breathe 3 seconds in and 6 seconds out. I never had another proper one. I could curtail them...

My very first brief encounter with almost silence.

I've had T 15 years and never experienced this. I've had cool moments when I'm happy with how quiet it's getting (I wear hearing aide masking devices which are lowering my levels well) but never an epic moment like that. I feel for u. Be strong Per...... :-)

Do We Avoid Social Life and Noisy Places Because of Tinnitus?

I went to an Aerosmith concert last year. I live in New Zealand and big acts never come here. Had a great night. Was half deaf when I left. Next day was VERY worrying but I got thru it, it all went back to normal and I thought what an idiot I had been. I'm never doing it again for any act...

My Tinnitus Is So Loud... Making Me Crazy

Fair enough. Mine went up and up. I continued to habituate it until it just got too loud. This was over a 14/15 year period..

My Tinnitus Is So Loud... Making Me Crazy

It's a tough decision. Your ENT guy will know your case, what did they say? Any way u can get $ help from anyone? Let's face it Tinnitus can affect mental health, your whole life. $4k is a lot but not compared to your mental health.

My Tinnitus Is So Loud... Making Me Crazy

I live in New Zealand - they cost $4.5k - the govt here subsidises $1k. $4.5k is about $4k US I believe. They've come down a lot in price. When I first discussed them with my ENT specialist about 5 years ago they were $11k! It's a lot but it's worth it.

My Tinnitus Is So Loud... Making Me Crazy

Leo and others struggling. Ear plugs kinda seem to squash the T in - seems like it gets louder, also makes your hearing more sensitive so try to stay away. Please don't give in you guys. See a specialist and ask about masking devices - I have had these for 5 months and they have physically...

Has There Been a Day You Haven't Noticed Tinnitus?

I'm the same as Marku and others above - I notice it but don't care. It's a nice feeling to be on top of it - you WILL get there....

    Habituate...

Great story Jeff. Really pleased for u. I'm 40 with 4 kids. Had T habituated till it got too loud - like 60 decibels loud, then after a major virus/anxiety/sleep issues I have now learned to habituate again. Masking devices have brought the volume down to what it was years ago. It's all very...

Sleep Acts as Off/On Switch for Tinnitus

Linda, I'll pm u about medication. It's a useful tool to help relax u and if you're an anxious person I think you'll find it useful. One thing I found with my cherry pills and balm was they were less effective if I took them 1/2 an hr before sleep as prescribed. I found if I took them 15...

What's the worst part about having tinnitus?

Agree with Jeff. It's tough but hang in there and try and live a full life. My Ear specialists have all said keep doing what you do. My T got to a point where it got a lot louder whenever I played sport as the blood rush would make it louder. Doc told me to keep playing basketball, whatever -...

    Tinnitus Masking: In-Ear Maskers

Neenie and Deb - I have worn Unitron hearing maskers for about 5 mths. I set them at the same pitch and just lower in volume than my T - It has reduced it a massive amount and also almost completely rid me of hyperaccussis (pain from sensitivity to sound). It took no more than a week for it to...

Sleep Acts as Off/On Switch for Tinnitus

To Linda and others - I've just recently come through a major health crisis where my T was so loud (50-60 decibels) and then I also got an inner ear infection which made the sound crushingly loud. Sleep faded to nothing. It was awful. I have recovered and getting good sleep has helped beyond...

Melatonin Might Be Beneficial, Especially in Preventing Hearing Loss?

I take melatonin in the natural form of cherry tart skin capsules! Sounds exotic! I take one before bed. In my eyes it doesn't help me get to sleep, but it's turned me from a light sleeper, woken at the slightest noise, to a deep sleeper. I've been taking it for about 4 mths and hardly had a bad...

    Coca-Cola and Tinnitus

I'm a long time sufferer. I've always been told caffiene makes T worse, however for me personally it never has. I was a regular 2 cups a day drinker, now I drink one if any but I've never really noticed it making a difference. Having said that, different strokes for different folks. Stop...

Major New Problem for a 15 Year Sufferer

Well tonight was the worst night of my life. It's been 5 days on the steriods and there has been no improvement whatsoever. The more tired I am the worse my T is. Last night I got one hours sleep before I woke. When I awoke my ear was just flooded with this low noise I can't shake. I tried...

Major New Problem for a 15 Year Sufferer

Mate, I have appts coming out my ears! The hearing aide guy (who also suspects a virus) is seeing me on july 2 in anticipation that this new issue will be gone and we can go ahead with the masking aides. My ENT guy is gonna see me 4 days after that. Dunno when the MRI is yet but I feel good...

Major New Problem for a 15 Year Sufferer

In a nutshell, I've had T for 15 years and hyperaccusis for about 5. I've lived with both and still function well as a teacher and father of 4. Until the last week. Unbelievably, 3 days before I was finally about to get myself some hearing aides to help mask my T, I wake up with a major problem...

New to This — Just Starting on the Tinnitus Road

Hey Cher - be strong.... It sucks for a start but you will pull through. I've had it for 15 years now. I was told there's no cure so didn't do much about it until a few years had passed. I never used white noise or sleeping pills as I managed to get used to it. We're all different though and I...

    Jonathan from Kentucky

Hi Jonathan - I've had T for 15 years and my ears pop every time I swallow. This has been going on for about 10 of the 15 years. So I guess u could say it's normal? I dunno! As for starting - I'd ask to see an audiologist who will hopefully test your hearing and try and get them to identify the...

Long Time Tinnitus Sufferer From New Zealand

Hi Danny, Thanks for replying. It's great to hear from someone this has happened to. Throughout my time with T I've had odd sounds come and go over quick periods of time like 5 or 10 minutes, or even seconds. This one has been with me now solidly since Monday which is why it's a worry. I'm...
