A Second of 100 dB Sound from Headphones Caused My Tinnitus / Acoustic Trauma

The ENT prescribed Deflazacort (cortisone steroid) but it only made the ringing worse after 5 days. She also prescribed Ginkgo Biloba "just in case it works" she said, but it didn't. I'm not taking any medication at the moment. Just taking vitamins and magnesium because that won't hurt...

A Second of 100 dB Sound from Headphones Caused My Tinnitus / Acoustic Trauma

The major breakthrough I had last month is that those vibrations seem to be gone :) In the beginning I had them everyday, then almost every day, then once or twice a week and now they seem to be gone. You may not notice it, but you are slowly getting better... Trust me! You won't have a sudden...

A Second of 100 dB Sound from Headphones Caused My Tinnitus / Acoustic Trauma

Hey @SadMan, looks like our cases are pretty similar... Mine started last September. First two months were hard and I was struggling with it. During the last months it has got slightly better. I get two or three average days, then it all goes back to the start. It is just how it is. Hopefully...

Low Bass-Like Hum, As If Something Was Vibrating Inside My Ear: Is This Tinnitus or Something Worse?

I have this too. I only have it at bedtime. And usually stops after a few minutes. It started a few weeks before the high-pitched tinnitus in both ears (inside my head).

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

My tinnitus started 3 months ago. I had all sorts of hearing, ear exams. Not a single drop in hearing, 100% perfect both ears. Perfect shaped ears and canals. I have a deviated nasal septum though, but the doctor thinks I've had it all my life and it is not the cause of my tinnitus. Will have...

Introducing Myself and My Concert Induced Tinnitus

That little CP2 is a screamer. Way louder than the CP3. Regarding the wind noise... That's true! That's why I've always used earplugs. Wind noise does get crazy at highway speeds. Especially if you're using a modular helmet.

Introducing Myself and My Concert Induced Tinnitus

Fellow motorcyclist here. I bought a 2nd hand motorcycle in late July, a Yamaha with a CP2 engine and a loud chinese full exhaust system. I ran it for month until my Akrapovic Titanium arrived. I always ran the Akrapovic with the db-killer on since I got it, but I believe that loud Chinese...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

Depends on the wind's speed and direction. But I'd say no. I'm on the third day of Deflazacort/Ginkgo Biloba treatment. Woke up again to near silence, but after a few minutes the ringing built up again. Today's ringing is not a steady high-pitch, now it's more like a cricket at distance. No...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

@n_li808 I'm no expert, but I think it is actually the other way around. Hearing loss causes tinnitus. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, I'm currently at a restaurant where people are talking very loud. I know these phone apps are not very precise, but I wanted a ballpark figure...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

I'm on my second day with Deflazacort and Ginkgo. Tinnitus seems worse, but don't know if it is related. For what it is worth I've attached the audiogram I have done 13 days after onset, when I visited the first ENT. As you can see, there is no evident hearing loss. Red ink is right ear, blue...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

I'm also suspicious that there is a relation between the noise I've listen the previous day to the level of ringing the next day. Also, mine also changes tone when exposed to loud-ish noises If steroids are to work, do they work right away or will it take a few days?

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

Hey @n_li808 thanks for cheering me up! Hope you're doing better too. I still believe it is us. Seems like my tinnitus is reacting to loud noises too. Let's see if steroids will do something for me.

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

Today is 4 weeks after the onset. Went to another ENT. She said that most likely my condition is chronic now. She prescribed 2x30mg of Deflazacort for the next 5 days, but advised me not expect to much out of it. Also prescribed Ginkgo biloba pills. I'm a little sad, but a part of me still...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

I hope it is! Way better than waking up with ringing at full blast if you ask me :) Where did you get that formula? Not doubting your advice, just curious... BTW, seems like you have tinnitus since around the time I was born. I hope you have found some relief!

Acoustic Shock-Induced (Car Alarm in a Store) Tinnitus for Over a Month Now

In my case the noise induced spikes started a few minutes after the exposure. Caffeine and alcohol are known to make tinnitus worse, so maybe that was it. Or maybe it just spiked because this thing has a life of its own. Mine keeps changing all the time too. Just keep taking care and it will be...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

Today the record-high ringing, after Monday's evening spike, lowered a bit. Still far away from pre-spike levels, but way more manageable. Today I woke up to silence, then the ringing slowly built up again. It took 5 minutes or so... Hope this is a sign of progress. :fingers_crossed:

Acoustic Shock-Induced (Car Alarm in a Store) Tinnitus for Over a Month Now

Same here @n_li808! But in my case the spike was caused by myself, I thought listening to podcasts through headphones at low volume was a good idea :banghead: Can't you relate your latest spike to anything else other than hanging out with your friends? Was there music being played there? I hope...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

Thank you @Walker123! Will definitely take care of my hearing. I've always used earplugs while riding motorcycles, because I hate wind noise. I will have to develop a routine to never forget to place my earplugs that are stored in the motorcycle keychain. Even when just riding home from the café...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

Today was a quiet day, the ringing was low all day. Stupid me went for a walk and decided it was a good idea to use headphones at low volume to listen to some podcasts along the way. Now ringing is back at record levels. Lesson learned!

Hey @n_li808, That kind of earplugs was the one I was talking about. You should be ok with those. I'm a few months older than you, actually I just turned 30 a few days ago. I'm facing tinnitus like it was a warning (not that I needed one) for myself that I'm no longer a teenager and I need to...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

In the meanwhile, last Thursday I've started taking magnesium tabs and a few hours later the ringing changed. It may be coincidence or not, but it did. It looks like it lost strength. It started to sound like a toy firetruck siren when running low on batteries. Other times it sounds like a...

Hello @n_li808! Looks like we are pretty much in the same boat. Three weeks ago I've developed exactly the same symptoms you have reported after abusing in-earphones' volume for a few hours. I'm experiencing the same issue when laying down to go to sleep. I could take your description of the...

Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

Hello, I'm HZO, just turned 30 and I'm from Portugal. I always had great ears. Still, to this day, I never had otitis, no ear pain, nothing, zero, nada, niente... A few months ago I bought some Bluetooth running in-ear headphones to use while jogging. Never got to use them much, and when I...
