Damn Fire Engines! Can They Permanently Damage Already Fecked Ears?

The smoke alarms for me are the worst. I hate them.

    Airplane? Tinnitus? Blood?

So this is kind of a strange thing, but just recently I remembered something very weird that used to happen to my ears as a child, and was wondering if anyone knows what it was, and if you maybe experienced it? So, I was a little trouble maker. I remember every single time I was yelled at for...

I No Longer Have Any Strength to Face Another Day

Hang in there, I got through my first year of very aggravating T. It has literally been a living nightmare. Before I even wake up properly in the morning... there it is. I get in the car.. there it is. I get into bed.. here it is. I sit in the lounge room or a room... there it is. I sit on my...

    Tinnitus and Valium (Diazepam)

This might be a strange question, but has anybody noticed that their tinnitus drops significantly after taking Valium? I was prescribed it a while ago, but never usually took it. Today I had 10mg, and the effects of tinnitus has dropped 90%, which is a huge relief for me. Of course there are...

    Jackhammer Incident

Yes, there are some who have it and perhaps from loud noise. But loud noise does not cause EVERYONE to have permanent T, or even temp T. My brother has been to millions of concerts. My mother (born in the 60's) has also. In fact, they continue to go to concerts, bars and have the music raging at...

    Jackhammer Incident

My wife and I put a door alarm on my daughters door last night. It say's it's 90 DB. I forgot about it completely this morning and walked right in and had the shock of my life. (We just moved in and there is a train line next to us) I don't know if 90 DB is enough to damage your ears, but there...

    A Year Later...

I actually don't remember how I was lying haha... pillow-wise. I know at current, I cannot possibly have an ear on the pillow as the T is too loud. I wasn't born by C. I just remember last year around this time, I started hearing it incredibly loud all of a sudden. So I was sent to get the...

    A Year Later...

That is very interesting to learn. I will take every word on board and see a doc tomorrow. Every time I have seen one, they don't do anything or refer me to anyone, so I will see if that can be changed ASAP. I appreciate your input!

    A Year Later...

I live in Australia. I wrote 2000 on my profile because I couldn't remember when the first time I heard it. I had minor T as a child... I remember hearing the noise every now and then at night, but nothing that concerned me until I was 34 (last year). You are right, I should probably see an ENT...

    A Year Later...

No, I have never been examined by an ENT Michael. I was never referred to one. I never listen to loud music or visit clubs/bars. I'm really unsure what caused it. I haven't been to a concert since I was 16, and my tinnitus was not not that loud until all of a sudden last year.

    A Year Later...

Hello Greg, yes this still happens when I move my head back. Neck has been incredibly painful over the year also and clicks when I move my head front and back. I have swollen lymph's behind my ears, chin etc and bad sinus headaches. I can't think of anything else at current. I have been to the...

    A Year Later...

It has been about a year since I have posted in this forum. Maybe visited about 6 or 7 times within the year. I don't have anything positive to say about the condition. Unfortunately, it seems as if my tinnitus has actually become louder. Here I am sitting in the car in my garage (ten times...

    Sounds That Sound Like Tinnitus

Does anyone notice that certain noises turn into a tinnitus sound? For instance, the general humming noise of my fridge, or a PC.. or a heater. I have noticed from time to time even though they don't sound anything like a high pitched noise, my brain or ears are perceiving the sound as...

I Don't Understand Why I'm Getting More Sensitive

Hi, I feel ya. I have had huge spikes in mine the last year or so. Some weeks have been at the point where I haven't even noticed it and others are rather debilitating with insane high pitches that I can't handle and my ears are in intense pain. I wish it would just stay at my comfortable level...

    Tinnitus or Not?

Hello, I am used to having generalized tinnitus and even find ways to deal with it but something strange has been happening the last 2 days. I am getting a very high pitched ring that is lasting a few seconds, then dissapearing. It started after I got a crackling sound in my left ear. Like the...

    Somatic Tinnitus

I just found out something very weird while I was moving my head around (stretching neck). Every time I move my head backward, I hear an even louder high pitched ringing. It goes away when I place my neck back in the normal position. I did it a few times, and only just realised. What on earth...

I Would Rather Have My Arm Ripped Off Than Live with Tinnitus

Hello. Does anyone think they are going to actually go crazy from the constant high pitched noise that appears to be in your brain, and not in your ears? How such an annoying, piercing noise can invade someones life like this is beyond me. Is it normal to think... "I would rather put up with...

    Needing Help

Thank you both for the very helpful replies! I really appreciate it. You both helped me when I needed it. I have been to 2x doctors. The first one had a very quick look in both ears, and said it was anxiety related. I went to another doctor who had a better look in both ears. He said that my...

    Needing Help

Hi. I have had tinnitus since I was younger, never really been an issue and something I have got used to over time. Mainly only noticing when it's very quiet. About 5 days ago I noticed it really loud, and started having severe anxiety over it. The doc referred me to get a hearing test which...
