I might have had anxiety-related low level TTTS before my acustic trauma too. It sounds like working on the psychosomatic aspect of it really helps... The fact that I might have some control over it gives me some hope :)

My T has definitely increased in volume over time but so has my ability to accept it and filter it out. I rarely hear it during the day (unless I'm wearing earplugs) but I'm really struggling to sleep with it after this setback. I can't put digital sound on so I have not nothing to mask it with :(

I can't see myself going back to live music or headphones ever again tbh, but being able to live a normal life without giving my ears a second thought would be the dream. Fingers crossed!

So refreshing to hear this, thanks! I've had some very mild noise sensitivity (no T) for years to be honest - I've been wearing protection at gigs for a while. It was never bad enough to worry me unfortunately, my ears would feel sensitive for a day and then get back to normal. So some damage...

I went to a really loud club (well, two clubs within 3 days). I was wearing custom-made earplugs but they didn't protect me enough. I had very mild H before then (loud gigs bothered me) but I was told it was all anxiety and that I was safe with plugs in. Famous last words!

Thanks - I was in the process of starting a new job and buying a flat at onset of my symptoms. I'm new at work so I can't get time off sick, and I can't lose my job cause I've used my savings for the flat and need to pay my mortgage. Being strong is the only option I have :)

Luckily both dysacusis and reactive (competing) T have gone. I still have loudness H, discomfort in ears, a bit of fullness and louder T. I have found that improvements in H lead to massive improvements in T for me (maybe not actually in volume but definitely in habituation) so I'm hoping that...

It's hard to explain.. I think my tolerance has gone down after each setback and it takes a bit longer to heal, to be honest. I have loudness H with discomfort/burning and aural fullness. Symptoms fluctuated a lot - my last setback actually brought up some new symptoms that really scared me...

Hi @Merlin L, My setback was caused by me being overconfident (and stupid) at a loud BBQ. By the time I realised they turned the music up, my ears were already hurting. I lost a lot of progress, although my H episodes tend improve relatively quickly (2-3 weeks) my T still feels louder. The fire...

Hi @Hardwell, thanks for this. I know, it was a stupid mistake. I had noticed socialising at normal sound levels was improving my H&T so much until one night the sound levels were not normal anymore. I'm definitely taking it easy from now on.

I think I slowly developed mild hyperacusis (no T) over a number of years of live music exposure. Loud clubs and gigs hurt my years even with earplugs on. I went to an audiologist who said it was all anxiety... I sadly went on going to clubs now and then until a very loud one in December started...

My setback from a few days ago was noise induced. The anxiety is definitely not helping. I'm limiting digital noise but exposing myself to natural noise/still seeing friends for mood. Tinnitus and Hyperacusis from Two Club Nights Back to Back — Hoping for Reassurance

Hello, I thought I'd post an update on here to keep track of my journey. Over the past 3 months I've had lots of ups and downs, good days and bad days, but things seemed to be improving overall. As suggested by my audiologist, I stopped using earplugs unless the environment was actually too...

Hi @Foamearplugssuck - thanks for your reply. How long have you had your symptoms for? Were they noise induced? Tinnitus and Hyperacusis from Two Club Nights Back to Back — Hoping for Reassurance

Hi all, having a really horrible night so I thought I'd write on here, after many days spent as an observer. I've had some sound sensitivity since I was 23 or so (I'm now 28) but managed to control it using earplugs at concerts and clubs. It all changed in December 2022, when two club nights...
