PPI: Pantoprazole Magnesium vs. Pantoprazole Sodium — Tinnitus as a Side Effect?

One 40 mg pill before breakfast and another before dinner. I really can't eat at all unless I take medication first. Good luck with the (I'm assuming) Nissen. I have loose plans to have surgery in November/December and the thought of being able to eat food I actually like again almost seems too...

PPI: Pantoprazole Magnesium vs. Pantoprazole Sodium — Tinnitus as a Side Effect?

Similar boat here, GERD and hoping to finally have surgery soon. I've taken PPIs daily for 13 years now but, as far as I can tell, they've never had an effect on my tinnitus. Here in the US, Omeprazole, Esomeprazole, and Lansoprazole are all available over the counter so I tend to think of...

Can Dental Polishing After Manual Cleaning Make Tinnitus Worse?

Since polishing isn't supposed to do much of anything to prevent cavities, I asked my dental hygienist if we could just skip it but she suggested she could use a toothbrush instead of the dental polisher. So every time I go to the dentist she applies the polish to a toothbrush and brushes my...

Novavax Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccination Experiences — Did It Make Your Tinnitus Worse?

Same situation. There was a time when I was checking regularly to see how things were progressing with FDA approval but after being relatively stable for years, my tinnitus and hyperacusis seem to be worsening for no clear reason. Now I'm even more wary of doing anything that has the potential...

Wow, sounds like you've had it pretty rough. I sure hope things start to improve for you soon.

I do still listen to music while driving which is more feasible since I'm already wearing hearing protection to begin with and I can adjust the EQ to make it less of a tinnitus risk, and I have to watch movies with my thumb poised to mash the volume down button in case anything is a few decibels...

Maybe a bit, thanks for asking. Again though the main mitigation measure for me is just controlling the volume level of the sound I'm exposed to as much as humanly possible. I rarely go out and always wear hearing protection when I do. I haven't listened to music at home in years.

But I do distinctly remember a time when I was experiencing some lasting, aching pain in both ears and the Keppra definitely seemed to help. I used to cycle on and off it pretty frequently back when I took it.

I do have some pain hyperacusis but it takes a moderately loud sound to trigger actual pain for me. I take extreme care to never expose myself to anything in that volume range so it's not really something I have an ongoing problem with.

Maybe a little bit. Some say you shouldn't expect Keppra to do this, but for me, it really did seem to decrease the overall tinnitus volume. I'd say any decrease in reactivity was proportional to that overall decrease. Unfortunately I haven't taken it in years because it started to cause some...

    Protecting? Overprotecting? Not Protecting?

Have you read the footnoted article that sentence references? Reversible induction of phantom auditory sensations through simulated unilateral hearing loss The study involved 18 participants who wore an earplug specifically designed to simulate hearing loss at certain frequencies for one week...

Is It True Some Members Cured Their Reactive Tinnitus with Keppra or Other Seizure Medications?

Sorry for not speaking up sooner but I've been taking Keppra off and on for three years now. I don't have what I understand to be typical pain hyperacusis but my tinnitus is reactive and there have been enough signs that Keppra has a positive effect that I'm still taking it three years later...

Poll: Better and Worse Tinnitus Days, Do You Know the Phenomenon?

This happens to me, although for some reason it just seems to be a natural pattern my tinnitus falls into. I hear a piercing high-frequency tone for a day and the following day I hear a much less offensive distorted white noise tone, and it repeats. The tones couldn't be more different. This...

    Tinnitus Worse After Shower

It's the opposite for me, the hour or so after my shower is usually the quietest part of my day. I wear swimming ear plugs in the shower though.
