    Hello, Pals.

Oh my god that is so cool! I love finding out that my favourite musicians are cool people. My dad knows John Till from Janis Joplin's final band, I saw them play together on stage once and it was very cool. He's a nice guy as well. I suspect that no matter what volume you listen at, jazz will...

I Have to Wait Two Weeks to See a Doctor!

Today I noticed that it's gone down to the usual volume (a subtle ringing that I don't really notice). Let's hope it stays there, and hey maybe that'll back off completely! Yeah, my dad told me that after all the years of wild performances and onstage explosions, it was monitoring through...

    Hello, Pals.

Hey, @SoulStation thanks for the reply! Oh nice! I'm pretty amateur at this point, but I have a background in folk-style guitar (as well as a period where I was really into noise), so I'm getting there in my spare time. :) For guitar, I'm really into John Abercrombie, especially his album...

    Hello, Pals.

Update: My tinnitus switched ears over a gradual period of half an hour? Spooky. Maybe this means it's getting better, at least it's a change anyway!

    Hello, Pals.

Good advice! I'm just worried that if I'm not careful, it'll get worse because so much of the stuff I enjoy involves going out to a gig or a party with loud music and having a couple drinks. Right now, it's bearable but if it gets louder really early in my life, I can see myself being pretty...

What Is Your Biggest Problem With Tinnitus?

My main problem is that I really enjoy silence and ambient noise, sometimes I really just want some peace and quiet. When I'm listening to something ambient and chill, I can occasionally hear the tinnitus overtop and that bugs me because I feel like I could be enjoying the music a lot more. I...

Notched Music Therapy (DIY, AudioNotch, etc.)

On Audacity, there's an option that allows you to adjust the notch size. Do any of you think this compares to AudioNotch, if I have it set to one? I already use Audacity on the reg anyway, I don't wanna pay for a programme if I don't need to!

    Hi, Do I Have Tinnitus?

Sounds like tinnitus to me, but your best bet is to check up with your doctor.

Hi. I Am 14 and I Am New to Tinnitus. I Really Need to Know What Is Happening?

Hey there! By the looks of it, your doctor seems pretty sure that your tinnitus won't last. Usually doctors are pretty straight up, because if they sugar-coat the truth too much, they'll ruin their reputation. Hopefully that helps with the worrying a bit, but don't feel bad if it doesn't...

I Have to Wait Two Weeks to See a Doctor!

My feelings exactly! I'm 18, my life of partying has just begun! From what I've read around the forums though, as long as we take care of ourselves now, the tinnitus should back off. Because we're so young, we have a bit of an upper-hand in healing. :) Interesting, I'll have to look into a...

Yeah, I guess we're not supposed to come out of life in perfect shape anyway, eh?

    Lena's Introduction

Yeah, success stories helped me out too! This one was the most helpful and relevant for me, so it'll probably help for you too because we're around the same age. :)

    Marijuana / Cannabis and Tinnitus

Dex is absolutely nuts, and people don't talk about it enough I don't think. There's a good reason it says "do not overdose" on the package. It irritates me that we spent so much time in health class focusing on anti-weed propaganda when we should have been learning about the even more...

    Sound recordings

I love anything with bells or chimes, this song is my guilty pleasure because of the ringing and all the reverb.

Wondering What We All Do for Our Work/Job/Living

I'm doing a victory lap in high school, and after that I'm hoping to go to university to get a BA in Sociology. In my spare time, I'm a waitress though. What a blast that is.

How Many Times a Week Do You Shower?

I shower every second day. On off days I take baths so I don't stink too bad, even though I'm technically sitting in my own filth. It's a natural musk anyway, right? Girl sweat is a gift from the gods.

    Hello, Pals.

Ahhh, thank you. :) Ouch, I love both coffee and alcohol. :( Oh well, I can do without I guess. Do you think one cup of coffee per day would effect me? Should I try green tea as a replacement? Or just cut caffeine altogether? I probably should, anyway. It's not good to get hooked young.

My Personal Story About Tinnitus Gone

I love reading stuff like this, makes me feel better about my own chances of improvement. I read this yesterday, and since then I've kept in-ear headphones in (without anything connected) to give myself some extra silence (and hopefully a swift road to recovery). I feel a bit isolated with just...

I Have to Wait Two Weeks to See a Doctor!

Back in August until September, I didn't really notice it unless I was alone, and even then I taught myself not to concentrate on it. Now it's kind of like I always need to make an effort not to hear it.

I Have to Wait Two Weeks to See a Doctor!

Thanks for the reply! I'm trying not to focus on it, every day it seems to get easier because I'm more used to it. Do you think it's okay, in the mean time, to listen to music through headphones or otherwise at a reasonable volume? Or should I give my ears a complete break for a few days?

    Hello, Pals.

Hi! I'm Charlotte, age 18 and I have tinnitus (presumably) as a result of noise. I'm a musician, I play jazz guitar, saxophone (tenor is my game), and I listen to music all the time. My favourite genres are bossa nova, chill trap, nuevo tango, shoegaze, jazz/fusion, and drum & bass/jungle. I...

I Have to Wait Two Weeks to See a Doctor!

Hi! I'll start off by saying that I noticed a slight hissing in my right ear after listening to some bassy jazz fusion back in August. It didn't bother me too much (it takes a fair bit to rattle me), so I didn't worry too much. Eventually (I think?) it went away. I honestly didn't really notice...
