This more or less happens with me as well, at least for my tonal sounds which can't be modulated with jaw/neck movements. And meanwhile, residual inhibition doesn't work at all for my white noise tone which CAN be modulated by clenching my jaw/stetching my neck. What a freaking mess tinnitus is.

Yeah well, it's not 100% preventable. I don't want to be that guy, but I think more than 50% of the people with tinnitus, got it suddenly for seemingly no reason (or ear diseases that develop unknowningly). And that's way worse because with a specific noise trauma, at least you know the reason...
