Hi @Tim123,
Thank you for your kind comments and I'm pleased that I was able to help you.
Your audiologist is the best person to advise you whether you need hearingaids. Many people that have tinnitus don't need hearingaids.
Take care,
Michael
I have to say that hearingaids are more expensive than ever but the government should definitely step in to make sure everyone has access to at least a midranger to help people get their life back to some normalcy.
...so yesterday I went to speak to somebody. She was really nice and friendly and I felt really comfortable with her. She had me try a few hearingaids that were quickly programmed to give me an idea of how they would help.
It was amazing. Until the tinnitus started I had not realized how much...
...and this is the only thing we're going to have in the next 80+ years probably. Hopefully I will be able to accept the stigma against hearingaids and not feel insecure about them. I know we all have different life struggles, and this is my life struggle, but it hurts knowing that it could...
...and sometimes we didn't. My tinnitus is a loud piercing zinging in both ears, dominant in the left. Bad hearing is corrected by hearingaids which have installed tinnitus features such as ocean waves and white noise controlled by the aids along with downloaded "music" apps of various kinds...
Hi, has anyone heard of the hearing loss pill? It claims to help regain hearing loss in 79% of people by supplementing the nerves in the inner ear.
It also claims to reduce tinnitus in 66% of people.
Review Of The Hearing Loss Pill : Shear Hearing Loss And HearingAids
That not correct. He said it helps 30% of the patients. I have friends who tried hearingaids for tinnitus and they didn't help them much. There might be some tinnitus patients who benefit from hearingaids, but seems to be rare.
A 20-minute treatment of the electrical stimulation?
Yeah, I am worried about this as well, since I cannot tolerate hearingaids. If I can’t tolerate hearingaids, how would I tolerate this implant?
Unfortunately help is limited as there is no single direct cure.
An audiologist can check your hearing, and possibly recommend hearingaids or maskers.
An ENT can check for physical abnormalities.
A counselor or CBT professional can attempt to help with the stress of dealing with it.

...by the NHS on to TRT treatment. It's sporadic treatment - I have a counselling session about once a month and am due to get fitted with hearingaids. I've been given WNGs but so far they are not making a difference. I don't think the hearingaids will work as I have low pitch hearing loss in...
I've seen these mentioned in several posts but when I google it, it seems to be hearingaids sold at a place in Nebraska. So duh, I'm confused. Is there an actual brand name for these masking hearingaids? I'm new at this, do please pardon me if i am
asking the wrong question.
...stable and no hyperacusis? Lots of hope for you. I have been doing sometimes better, sometimes worse. Still recovering from a terrible spike from using hearingaids for an hour to play some crickets. Working now, which is tough, but helps divert attention from this horror. Still grieving.
I didn't know my hearing was as bad as it was until I tried the hearingaids. If you do try them, make sure you try the pair and not just one hearing aid for one ear.
Hearingaids aren't suitable for those with severe tinnitus. It's as simple as that.
They aren't called "tinnitus aids" for a reason.
For those with mild-to-moderate tinnitus, pretty much anything goes; exposure to normal everyday sounds, visits to restaurants etc. As the damage is only...
I am now over 3 weeks since the spike caused by hearingaids playing crickets quietly for 1h. It receded some, but I am notably worse than I was. Hate I listened to the audiologist. It shows how fragile our ears are after noise trauma. This is basically death sentence. The question is how soon...
Implants and prostethics can never be substitutes for natural hearing. The day natural restoration comes, the market for hearingaids and implants will definitely go down.
Thanks @Anthony2019, glad they helped you so much! I fear that my hearing loss in right ear is too high for hearingaids to help (around 12,000 Hz) and I also have other tones around 2,000-2,700 Hz, all variable and reactive. Not sure hearingaids can work with reactive tinnitus.
Was your...
...was caused by attending loud concerts.
I understand the way that you feel at the moment. Coupled with the fact that you have been given hearingaids with white noise, that has been tuned by your audiologist to mask your tinnitus can cause some confusion, as you are not sure the correct way...
In my case, although hearingaids didn't lower my tinnitus, they made my hearing better. But after I achieved "catastrophic" level tinnitus, I had to stop using them as they aggravated my tinnitus.
I have had tinnitus all my life with the ringing being a constant tone at approx 1750hz. I also suffer from Hyperacusis which affects me to a greater degree under stress. When I go to a movie, which is rare, I always wear ear plugs.
I did see an audiologist about a year ago and my tinnitus...
...features. I am only using the noise generator feature.
It's been a life saver the last 2 years.
Unfortunately I am going through a rather bad spike right now that began around a week ago, which I hope subsides - I am thankful for the hearingaids during this spike as they make it a lot...
I don't have any detectable hearing loss, even in my extended audiogram so I haven't tried hearingaids. I'm trying to hold out for the Shore device but I have my doubts it will work
@Tryn2BHopeful, you could try hearingaids. They are helping me a lot today. I have Widex Moment model. Also, if I don’t get good sleep my tinnitus is much worse. I have severe sleep apnea and need to use a Bi-Pap machine. I have a bad left TMJ that could be making my left ear worse.
...years I have trouble hearing in groups of people and one on one. The specialist I saw was rude and very aggressive in pushing $ 6000.00 hearingaids on me. She had only one concern and that was selling me a hearing aid. If this treatment you get when visiting a specialist (doctor) than I...
...somewhere in one of the papers that your condition could be surgically corrected (quite successfully), if it comes down to it.
I tried hearingaids a few months ago but they didn’t work for me. My mild hearing loss in left ear is between 4000 and 8000 Hz; my tinnitus frequencies are way...
...and when I pressed the headphone against my left ear, I could hear every instrument, vocals etc. more clearly.
And the same is true of hearingaids. When I put on the hearingaids, I can hear the difference between the ears immediately.
Is there any abnormality in me that could be corrected?
I started using hearingaids 2 years ago and they have dramatically reduced the ringing in my ear. I believe that they only help if you have a substantial hearing loss. You will know within 10 minutes of trying them on if they will help you.
...nothing, of (real) treatment STILL, while being told by some it's your mindset. It's used as form of torture method in war. Main treatment consists of benzos, talk therapy, pink noise and hearingaids. Wee bit progress from centuries ago, when it was liquor, opium, ear trumpets & insanitarium. :(
For those who wear hearingaids; do you use cross-over aides?
My ENT has recommended I get Phonack Cross-over hearingaids. His “theory” is since I have little hearing with very bad word recognition in my left ear, the aides will “cross-over” the sound to the good ear, bypassing my bad ear. The...
...but what varies is the severity, duration, and how each person experiences it. For example, a person with hearing loss who doesn't use hearingaids to improve their hearing may perceive their tinnitus less, but that doesn't necessarily mean the tinnitus itself decreases. I think what works...
...The proper devices need to be used when playing sound directly into the ear. These are wearable white noise generators with or without hearingaids. It is best to be under the care of an audiologist, that specialises in tinnitus and hyperacusis treatment who will be able to advise you.

I am also terrified about worsening caused by hearingaids last night. At about my worst. T is severe plus. I think I had it occasionally even worse when waking up, but this is now steady state. Now, again, I am praying for my "terrible" tinnitus I had until yesterday to come back. Indeed, we...
@SarahMLFlemmer Just go to an audiologist that sells hearingaids. Like Davidsonhearing or any other seller in your area.
I’ve had T for roughly 10 months. Cause unknown. No hearing or ear issues ever before.
It's difficult to say. If it helps the pure tone side, then it would seem to have some benefit. Maybe try only using it on that side while isolating the bad ear from noise. Maybe just treating the one side will help distract from and calm the relative side.
I use Oticon for sound enrichment...
...by an insane insurance system. That being said, you can pretty much make an appointment with an audiologist and pay out of pocket for hearingaids, for example. I would guess that Auricle would be similar. Distance is a big problem if the devices need to be adjusted unless they can be...
...on the day. The non-reactive tinnitus is by far my more intrusive one, seriously wears me down on the day I have it.
I chose to get hearingaids because of 3 reasons. One, I was hoping it would "reduce the contrast" of my non-reactive tinnitus--by providing my ears the sounds it is deprived...
...understanding people in crowded environments. My wife came with me to an audiologist appointment, and I ended up with a pair of $6000 hearingaids. I wear them occasionally, but if I’m alone watching TV, I don’t turn the volume up too loud. I also don’t hear questions from other rooms, around...

Recently this past week, I had it for 5 days non stop in my right ear. I am about to go back to my audiologist to get fitted for hearingaids and I will bring up the possibility of Pulsatile Tinnitus then.
I have 2 questions.
What is the process of being diagnosed with PT?
And, I...
It would have been when I was fitting my second set of hearingaids so probably 4 or 5 years after the initial onset. I can assure you I could not have heard those tones over my tinnitus. My tinnitus sounded (and still sounds) an awful lot like the high frequency tones in the first place and it...
Hey there @RicardoC7023, I have recently gotten Widex Moment hearingaids since I have some hearing loss. I also have two types of tinnitus: one non-reactive and one reactive.
I have noticed that if I wear my hearingaids too long (like over 5-6 hours), my reactive tinnitus becomes aggravated...
I have explained many times in this forum, that hearingaids and white noise generators use an entirely different technology to headphones, earbuds and headsets when delivering sound into the ear and auditory system.
It is not just a matter of "sound is sound," it is the way the sound is...
...all.
as you know, I am always looking for some relief, following a dramatic deterioration in the summer 2013(coinciding with the use of hearingaids...or not...). Doing much research, I came across in Lyme disease. Some of you knows that I was a fan of motorcycling and excursions. Well, in...

I've listed all the available options. You'll likely leave the clinic in the same condition. With Treble Health, you get the same hearingaids and sound "therapy" as you would from an audiologist. What you won’t get are medications, as they are not doctors but rather charlatans.

Many thanks, Della. I'm sorry to hear that you're still suffering from this after a decade. I've been doing the same as you—wearing ear protection in similar situations. Deep bass from speakers and the rumble from car suspension (especially over potholes) are particular challenges, as I...
