Yeah, Nexium is the only one that I can take. Pantoprazole was an absolute mare for me. Nexium is my «bad friend», sometimes I’m OK on it, and sometimes it gives me ear pain and a spike. But when the Reflux/GERD is bad, I have no choice.

For me most, bar Kestine/Ebastine, spiked my tinnitus and gave me lot of side effects. I’m guessing it’s down to the fact Kestine is without the anticholinergic effects.

It is an antihistamine.

Accept it. You’ll regret otherwise. Don’t let tinnitus stop you from doing what you love!

Yeah. Took me several weeks, and I had constant headache and dizzy spells. Missed a lot of work. My GP told me to stay away from it. This is not something for me. But I am happy it works for others :)

I can chip in on this. I recommend using Kestine (ebastine) instead. It will not affect tinnitus.

@buttercake, can you drink alcohol even though you take Kestine?

Do you take it in the morning or at night? All the others I have tried have spiked my tinnitus or given me other unbearable side effects. Reading @Lane's post again and coming across Kestine makes me hopeful this can work?

@Lane, I stumbled across an anticholinergic antihistamine with Ebastine. I’m really encouraged and might give this a shot. Have you heard of it?

You normally don’t need super high doses of Vitamin D3, really. Of course depending on your general health and diet, 800-1200 IU should do it. I use fresh Fish oil + a D3 800 UI everyday. If your ears ring from D3, it’s quite possible due to Magnesium deficiency, which D3 uses.

@ajc it did ease it somehow. What really helped me was something called Otinova (In Norway). It contains Burow's solution. Recently, I found Blephaclean napkins to remove eczema outside the ear :eek: My ENT at the hospital recommended ear oil once a week as well...? :confused:

I am on Valtrex 250 mg twice a day. Does not affect my tinitus, which is truly unbelievable as I’m super sensitive to 99,9% of everything in life. In the beginning it caused headache and slight vertigo which subsided after a week (at most):)

@PugDog1 thanks for an informative and uplifting message. I took my first pill (120mg) last night. After 30 mins I had a slight, like very tiny, increase in my tinnitus. Will continue, mostly because I have to - like badly. But if it spikes beyond a level I can handle I have to do something.

Very grateful for even more responses! @glynis in one thread I read you used fexofenadine. Do you still use it? Anyone have an idea or input as to why my tinnitus is supersensitive to antihistamines?

Yes. I got mine in August along with a chargable speakEr with a microSD with different masking sounds. But a free app or video from YouTube will also work with the pillow. I find it easier than headphones or ear plugs, and whilst it doesn’t make the tinnitus disappear, it makes a good job...

yeah, you are right. That is an allergic reaction. Doxycycline might be an option if you tolerate it. I am allergic to tetras.
