Semicircular Canal Dehiscence Can Cause Pulsatile Tinnitus and Is Linked to Anxiety

I’ve had an MRI before, and that was super loud! But the CT scan I had done was a bit loud, but nowhere near as loud as the MRI. There is surgery that can be done apparently, but my ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor said it’s kind of risky, because it’s near the brain. So I’m just kind of...

Semicircular Canal Dehiscence Can Cause Pulsatile Tinnitus and Is Linked to Anxiety

Thanks for posting this. This is exactly what I have. I had a CT scan done about a year ago, and they told me I have this: Semicircular Canal Dehiscence Syndrome. It's very annoying. I think that's why I have really bad hyperacusis. And also pulsatile tinnitus. I've just learned to live with it...

Sudden Tinnitus and Ear Clicking/Popping Shortly After Ear Irrigation — Congestion, or Damage?

Well, I hope the ringing is short-lived for you. Sometimes it goes away for people, I’ve heard. Good luck at your appointment.

Sudden Tinnitus and Ear Clicking/Popping Shortly After Ear Irrigation — Congestion, or Damage?

Almost the same thing happened to me. I had my ears irrigated because the doctor told me I had wax in my ear. I've had problems with my ears ever since. For a few weeks afterwards, my ears were ringing, and also thumping really loud, as if there was construction noise going on in my head. The...

    Eardrum Vibration? Tensor Tympani Myoclonus?

Sorry, I don’t really know what to suggest. It’s a constant battle for me as well. I have figured out that stress seems to make it worse, though.

No change, sounds like constant low rumble in the background.

Thumping in My Ear Was Caused by Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome (TTTS) — Now My Thumping Is GONE!

It's hard to describe the sound. Sort of like vibrating construction going on outside. It seems to be different all the time. But I haven't had it all day today. Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way. And I hope yours goes away too!

Thumping in My Ear Was Caused by Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome (TTTS) — Now My Thumping Is GONE!

It just started recently. It seems to be related to my upper back/spine, etc. My desk at work is too high, so my arms are constantly being raised while I type and use the mouse. Also, my pillow seemed too low, so I think my neck was being stretched the wrong way. I've switched to a different...

Are There Any Good ENTs Out There Specialized in Tinnitus?

Nope, nothing like that at all. Oh well, at least I didn’t have to pay for the visit. It was covered by our provincial medical plan. This site is now my go-to for advice and possible solutions!

Are There Any Good ENTs Out There Specialized in Tinnitus?

Hmmm... good question. I suppose I was hoping he would be more helpful in trying to figure out why I have tinnitus, and maybe offer some better solutions.

Are There Any Good ENTs Out There Specialized in Tinnitus?

I’m just wondering about this. I waited 3 months for my ENT doctor's appointment. When I finally got in to see him, he just basically gave me some literature on CBT (cognitive behavioural training) for my tinnitus. Such a waste of time! Has anybody had any GOOD experiences with an ENT doctor?

Thumping in My Ear Was Caused by Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome (TTTS) — Now My Thumping Is GONE!

Thank you very much for this info! I've had tinnitus for a long time now, but I started to get the vibrating/thumping again a few days ago. And my spine feels really tight, so I had a feeling it's related to that. I'm going to go to a chiropractor, or maybe a massage therapist, and hopefully...

So... What's the Prognosis for Hyperacusis? — I'm 6 Months Into Severe Hyperacusis

I understand everybody's pain on this thread. I would just like to vent about my hyperacusis. I've had it for about a year. (along with my tinnitus) Almost every single loud noise bothers me and hurts my ears. I have to wear foam earplugs and/or headphones (without any music) when I go out...

Poll: Is Your Pulsatile Tinnitus Intermittent or Constant?

Mine is constant. If I have a noisy day, it’s louder than usual for a few hours. Then when I get back to my nice quiet home, it dies back down to a bearable level.

Went to the ENT — Kind of Disappointed About the Visit — He Mentioned Tinnitus Retraining Therapy

Yes, they did do a hearing test. But no, it didn't include listening in background noise/music. Thanks for all the info. I think I'll buy some magnesium today, guess it can't hurt to try. But not sure what kind and what strength to get.

Those with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis — What’s the SAFEST Form of Ear Wax Removal Please?

I would just like to say that I "don't" advise getting your ears flushed. I had it done about a year ago, and it made my tinnitus worse. At least I think that's what made it worse, because 2 days after I had it done, that's when the really loud pulsatile tinnitus started.

Went to the ENT — Kind of Disappointed About the Visit — He Mentioned Tinnitus Retraining Therapy

I finally had my ENT appointment today, after waiting for almost three months. He was a very nice man, but not extremely helpful. He did give me the name of a place that does Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. I think he said it's kind of expensive. And then I told him about this site, but he said he...

Introducing My New Book "Living With Tinnitus"

I love your book. I've been reading some of it almost every day when I go to the coffee shop. I laughed at your comment above regarding describing the tinnitus! That was funny. Lol (I just read the "Back to Silence" part in the book last week). I also recommended your book to my son-in-law, as...

My 3 Second Fix for Pulsatile Tinnitus

My doctor checked my ears and said I have fluid in my ear (the one with tinnitus). He prescribed something called Beconase nasal spray. I’m going to do some research first, before I get it filled. I still think you’re onto something though @reeax. It’s probably something to do with pressure on a...

    Magnesium Reduces Hyperacusis?

Yes, I think mine gets worse with loud noises too. I had a very loud and stressful day at work the other day, and that night my tinnitus did get very loud, and I could hardly sleep. Right now, my tinnitus is at a "decent" level (lol). I have my TV on at a nice, low level, but then later I'll...

    Magnesium Reduces Hyperacusis?

I don't know if it's my imagination, but I had a piece of 12 grain bread this evening (with 10% magnesium per slice) and my tinnitus seems a bit quieter. I'm going to experiment and buy some foods that are high in magnesium and see if it does actually make a difference. I sure hope so.

Is This Normal for a Spike? Delayed Spike?

I feel bad for you that you had to listen to that awful fire alarm. Good thing you had those earmuffs handy. My tinnitus would probably spike too after hearing a fire alarm. Hopefully the spike has gone down for you by now. Sometimes if I experience super loud noises, my tinnitus spikes (not...

My 3 Second Fix for Pulsatile Tinnitus

I've discovered a few second fix for my pulsatile tinnitus. If I bite down really hard and hold my teeth together, the tinnitus gets super quiet. If only I could hold that position all day, that would be great. So I'm wondering if it's related to a TMJ problem or something like that. Just wanted...

    Caffeine and Pulsatile Tinnitus

I thought I had read somewhere that caffeine makes our tinnitus worse, so I don't drink coffee anymore, only green tea, which I know does have a little bit of caffeine in it. But now that I read this, maybe I'll try drinking coffee for a few days and see if that makes a difference in the...

    Eardrum Vibration? Tensor Tympani Myoclonus?

I first got this loud vibrating noise a few days after I had my ears syringed. My tinnitus got louder too. (About 3 months ago). The vibrating noise was so loud, and I got really scared, so I went to the emergency department at the hospital. I guess they didn't think it was that urgent, because...

What Is "Over Protection"? Everyday Noises Are Too Loud, Afraid to Go Outside

I always carry foam earplugs in my purse, and have to wear them most of the time when I'm out. Especially my right ear, which is the one with the tinnitus. If I occasionally forget the ear plugs at home, and I'm out at a loud restaurant, or even on a loud bus, or shopping mall, I kind of panic...

I Think I May Have Tinnitus...

I had my ears syringed about 2 months ago. I wish I hadn’t, because 3 days later my tinnitus got louder than it had been in years. It could’ve been a coincidence I suppose, but now that I’m reading other people’s posts about it, maybe it did make the tinnitus worse.
