Which Is Safer? A Few Drinks a Day or Taking ADs, Benzos or Other Mind-Altering Chemicals?

...way you can. I'm still only 3 months in and was looking at that 'S' word. I'm on a small dose of AD and benzos and rather large amount of alcohol (5 stubbies a night) for my small size (52kg). I'm reducing the alcohol now even though it relieves the T or else I know I'm going to be dealing...

Alcohol Is Not an Approved Treatment

Yeah, alcohol does calm you down same... works somewhat the way benzos do. But of course, heavy alcohol use carries big risks, including addiction (just like benzos). If your suffering is due to anxiety (which I assume it is, as it is for a lot of tinnitus folks), you could try a benzo like...

Alcohol and Its Effect on Tinnitus

I had pretty bad worsening three months ago when going through benzo (Xanax) withdrawal. I took 1mg of it every night for 1 month. And I unfortunately drunk some alcohol that time too. I am not sure if it is connected, but it might be. Now I am just scared to drink as much alcohol as I did before.

    Alcohol Quiets Down My Tinnitus

Hi guys. I'm sorry that I post so much, haha. Anyhow it's just because I've novice something strange. This Time Around, the Level of My Tinnitus Is Unlike Anything I've Experienced in 13 Years

...treatment, I think it's worth a shot. Especially since it looks like you're in a legal state. I take Trazodone for sleep and that's been super helpful in managing life overall. I did not find it helpful to quit caffeine, alcohol, or THC. It made things worse. Long term outcomes be damned.

What's the Consensus on Food Being a Trigger for Making Tinnitus Worse?

...has never had any effect on T - no matter how salty, sugary or spicy, nothing happens. I've experimented with various diets (I've been on keto for 1.5 years now), also no effect. Tried fasting, again no effect. The only "food" that does affect it is alcohol, mellows it out nicely. Alcohol is...

Alcohol + anxiety = not fun 1/10 would not recommend But seriously: don't try to fix your anxiety/panic attacks with alcohol. It just doesn't help. On a serious note - crying always helped me in dealing with negative emotions. You can only cry for so long, and when you're so sad and tired...

University and Social Life with Tinnitus

have you ever tried if alcohol increased your tinnitus or not? if yes you should not play a drinking game every weekend because it can worse your tinnitus. alcohol stimulates your nervous system and your brain (and destroys it) and tinnitus is a brain/nervous thing.

I also want to add that I think alcohol interfered with tinnitus in a negative way. Often times I would wake up after a night of drinking and have the ringing more pronounced for a few days. Alcohol is a depressant and suppresses your nervous system. It binds to GABA like benzos and calms down the rapid neuron firing that causes tinnitus, so it makes sense. Also reduces my tremor.
