Agreed. It is really alarming to see this out in the real world, for example when I am driving through my neighborhood I don't think I have seen anyone use ear protection when out mowing the lawn, including many kids who don't know any better.

Some people believe it to be a component of hyperacusis but it is typically referred to as reactive tinnitus.

Yeah it should be totally safe to make music at low volume with this condition as long as you aren't using headphones. It may help to limit the time and take frequent breaks while doing so to minimize any risk associated with it.

If your tinnitus isn't noise induced, it is probably fine, as long as you don't notice it getting worse from using the AirPods. To minimize the risks of ear damage while using them it would be wise to only listen at low volumes and try to limit use as well as taking breaks to give your ears a rest.

It might not be the cause but neck issues could very much be exasperating things. Although it will likely not cure it, it might reduce some of your symptoms to some degree.

You should definitely try getting that treated then, it may not be the cause of the problem but it has a high likely hood of at least reducing some of your symptoms if you get it taken care of since the jaw joint is very connected to the ears and has a tendency to exasperate existing problems.
