Managing Anxiety About the Future — How Will Tinnitus, Hyperacusis and TTTS Affect My Life?

Hey man. I'm around your age too and have what would probably be described as towards the worst end of moderate tinnitus and also mild hyperacusis along with some other health issues. I am still in university now and still managing some crazy work loads even for a person without these sorts of...

Exposed to Fire Alarm — Hearing a Lingering Siren Sound Hours Later?

Certain instruments in music did it but it was mainly just high pitched sounds in general. It still happens a little bit for a minute sometimes with sirens and alarms but subsided after a few months for me. I did not get it from the things you described in your post although I have avoided loud...

Exposed to Fire Alarm — Hearing a Lingering Siren Sound Hours Later?

For me it was primarily things like sirens in the distance or the sound the microwave made after it was done running so high pitched stuff in similar ranges to my tinnitus tones.

Young Kid at a Music Festival

Agreed. It is really alarming to see this out in the real world, for example when I am driving through my neighborhood I don't think I have seen anyone use ear protection when out mowing the lawn, including many kids who don't know any better.

Got Tinnitus from a Noisy Bar — I Was Blissfully Unaware Noise Exposure Can Have Consequences

Well it's been a year since I visited that bar so I figured I give an update on how I am doing these days. The hyperacusis seems to be lingering and I can't really tell if it's improved since last time I posted but I've been managing to at least have it stay mild despite some random loud noises...

Exposed to Fire Alarm — Hearing a Lingering Siren Sound Hours Later?

Hi Kuromi, It is called Palinacousis I believe. I had this when I first got tinnitus and it eventually did go away after a few months as my tinnitus got more stable. Unfortunately not too much is known about it although you most certainly can find relatable experiences on the forum.

Feeling Desperate, My Tinnitus Started After an Energy Healing Session

Hi DaniBeez, welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about your new found tinnitus. Tinnitus can start for many different reasons and has a tendency to come on after a period of high stress. It may have come on from a medication that was ototoxic (very common with things like common painkillers...

Got Tinnitus from a Noisy Bar — I Was Blissfully Unaware Noise Exposure Can Have Consequences

So an update for those following my story on here: These days my hyperacusis is pretty mild which is a blessing and I am hoping it stays that way or continues to improve. It always scares me when it fluctuates even though I know improvement isn't linear. I am coping with university life just...

TTTS After Exposure to Loud Sound

Like I said, I could totally be wrong on that, but it's a thought I had. It could have something to do with the muscles being injured too or atrophying (as in @Stacken77's or your case). I couldn't say for sure though, this is all mostly a mystery to me.

TTTS After Exposure to Loud Sound

I believe it's the acoustic reflex which is the natural defense mechanism of the ear to protect itself from loud sounds. I couldn't tell you whether that means you are doing damage although I am sure it would depend on the person. I also experience this but in both ears and I would say my...

27-Year-Old Musician with Minor Tinnitus from Forklift Incident

Yeah it should be totally safe to make music at low volume with this condition as long as you aren't using headphones. It may help to limit the time and take frequent breaks while doing so to minimize any risk associated with it.

Tinnitus from Rock Concert Went Away for Years — Now It's Back and Bothering Me Again

@valerinaanna, awesome, hopefully those will help. As far as singing in a band goes, I would recommend trying to avoid playing in enclosed spaces and trying to stay behind the amps so they are pointing away from you and what not to minimize risks and of course don't forget your earplugs. With...

Hi @valerinaanna, sorry to hear about your ear problems. Most of us on Tinnitus Talk have certainly wanted to end our lives at some point due to this, especially in the beginning, but luckily for you it usually gets easier to ignore or it reduces in volume. Good ear healthy habits will almost...

Are AirPods Pro Safe for NON-Noise-Induced Tinnitus?

If your tinnitus isn't noise induced, it is probably fine, as long as you don't notice it getting worse from using the AirPods. To minimize the risks of ear damage while using them it would be wise to only listen at low volumes and try to limit use as well as taking breaks to give your ears a rest.

You should definitely try getting that treated then, it may not be the cause of the problem but it has a high likely hood of at least reducing some of your symptoms if you get it taken care of since the jaw joint is very connected to the ears and has a tendency to exasperate existing problems.
