Took Me 10 Years to Habituate to Tinnitus: And Now Allergy Season Triggered ETD, Followed by a Spike

My right ear began ringing when I was 16 (I’m 26 now). After a rough rollercoaster I finally was at a place where my tinnitus was a second thought and I barely thought about it. I wear ear plugs when I need to, avoid loud noises, take supplements, and whenever I am prescribed any new medication...

Teenage Years Lost to Tinnitus (Amongst Other Tinnitus)

Well, at the end of allergy season I began having ETD problems in my left ear as I have had from time to time. Usually comes with a bit of ringing in that ear, but as the tube opens up as it “heals”, the ringing goes away with it. For some reason, this time it decided to stay. What’s worse: it...

    Head Position Changes Tinnitus?

Hi all! Had a recent discovery at work. I had my ear plugs in while vacuuming and I bent down to plug in my vacuum, but as I stood back up I noticed my T get louder for a moment. So I did a test; I stood straight, lowered my head perpendicular to my body and put it back up right. As I lifted me...

Hi all! Been a while since I have been on here. My T hasn't changed much I think, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Anyway, I have decided I am going to really begin my life. I plan on getting my own apartment, going back to school, and learning a new language. For the past 3 or 4 years I...

    Music Festival... Stupid Idea?

I know it has been sometime but I still wanted to post. I went to a heavy metal concert this past Sunday (Pain in the Grass) with bands like slipknot, lamb of god, three days grace, just all around loud bass-y bands. I sat up in the lawn (ampitheater setting) and wore ear plugs. I will admit...

    Instant Spike

I take overly cautious matters to make sure I protect my ears, even from the most mundane things. for work I drive a van, and I wear ear plugs for the trip because it's an older van and the flooring in the back is a little loose. So when I hit bumps or potholes, it creates a loud noise. And...

Hello all, I have recently gotten job offer from my cousin who is a general contractor doing mostly renovations and the occasional house build. Shooting with Protection, Still Possible Damage?

Hi Doctor, I went camping over the weekend and a buddy of mine had brought his 9mm pistol with him. In the spur of the moment I decided I would go fire some rounds with them. I shot 30 rounds in all, two 15 round clips. The first time I had ear plugs and ear muffs, the second time just ear...

Shooting with Ear Protection, Still Possible Damage?

Yeah I know, I probably won't be doing it again and probably shouldn't have done it. Spur of the moment type thing. I don't think it's any worse this morning, and if it is it might just be me over thinking it. P.s., there are still people on the board who go shooting all the time.

Shooting with Ear Protection, Still Possible Damage?

So I went camping this weekend, and there was some shooting we did outdoors. I had my ears plugged even when I wasn't shooting, and when I did shoot, the first time I shot (both times were pistols) I had plugs and ear muffs. The second time I had only muffs. Took NAC when I got home just to...

It's always something. Had my sisters small dog in my lap, and someone knocked on the door and it lifted it's head up by my left ear and did like a half bark half scream. It was quite loud, and it being right by my ear is what worries me the most. I'd assume it was somewhere between 90-100 decibels.

Occlusion Effect, Ear Plugs Pointless in Social Situations?

So I have been reading some posts on here about the "Occlusion Effect," which is the echoing noise you hear when you talk, chew, jump around etc., with ear plugs in. So I was doing some research and I found out something called the kiss of deaf, which is where someone kisses someone on the ear and in rare instances it could create suction that pulls on the ear drum and damage the tiny bones in your ear, leading to T, hearing loss, hypercausis, muffled...
