I'd give it all up if my tinnitus was healed.
This statement by @Markku is saddening. The timelines that people mention here are normally one year after FDA approval, which has not happened yet. So, we're talking 2-3 years.
I've had the acid pain straight for the last seven months and swelling in my middle ear as my ear heals. I'm hoping it goes away by the end of the year since that would be 18 months from the date of my trauma. I'm tired of the pain and having to take Tramadol for it, among other drugs.
I sleep...
...voices were low the entire time, it's just that ears with noxacusis are extra sensitive to artificial audio, and that's totally normal. The burning pain will very likely subside in a day or two. And just think, if you hadn't spoken to her, you'd still be pining for a medical professional who...
...month ago I went to an audiologist and got tympanometry done. My ears instantly felt more full, but settled down a bit later. Two days later burning pain started in my left ear. It was constant but became worse when swallowing, when TTTS thumping occurred, and when talking and moving my neck...
The law was really efficient to jail Madoff, because he robbed the rich.
By the way, have you seen all the protests and demonstrations in France, against the pension reform?
They are literally burning Paris.
Same here. Mine is totally gone but I almost certainly still am susceptible to relapses but can handle more and more noise all the time.
Very slow improvements though. I still have tinnitus the same, but pain is gone for now, thankfully.
...without giving out my personal information. I'd buy it with cash instead of a credit or debit card and dispose of it after a short while by burning it or breaking it in half. I could also use a VPN to prevent my web activity from being tracked, assuming that works.
OpenAI is already a...
When I listened to headphones one day (the volume was low) some time ago, I heard this loud popping sound in my ear. After it, I have had ear burning sensation (that had been gone for many months) and horrible reactive tinnitus. I have had symptoms of hyperacusis before but it had got easier. I...
People think I’m a nut but I swear my cell phone hurts my ear. I can’t stand having it to my ear as my ear burns and my ear problems seem to get worse. I’m about ready to chuck the thing in the river.
...and TTTS and began the frantic Google spiral.
I’m not sure what the connection is to hyperacusis, but when my TTTS is bad, I feel a horrible burning inside of my ear, which I assume is from the overactive muscle. I believe I have read that Tensor Tympani issues and hyperacusis often go hand...
Hi there! I've been dealing with noxacusis symptoms for just over a month now. I've been having stabbing pain in my ear canal, slight burning pain, frequent spasms of my middle ear, ear fullness, and huge tinnitus spikes. It feels like I have a middle ear infection with a sensitivity to sound...
I really wish @jacob21 came and answered your questions...
My question to @jacob21 is: can you elaborate more on "kind of pain"? Did you ever have burning/stabbing sensation in your ear no matter how light/short lived?
...that, my condition gradually improved again.
The lowest point came when I underwent a lower back MRI, which resulted in about four hours of burning, tearing pain, though it didn’t cause any lasting setback.
Since late 2023, I haven’t experienced any hyperacusis symptoms, and my reactive...
I have burning noxacusis 24/7 right now and after initially getting it I did recover from it after about 2 months. Then a setback sent me back to square one. I was recovering again and another setback sent me back to square one again. I pushed too hard it seems but I was definitely getting a lot...
I have had pretty severe burning noxacusis that has lasted for weeks and even months at a time. Currently I’d say I’m 80% recovered. The main reasons for my recovery are time, avoiding harsh speakers at all costs, and consuming lots of ginger.
I still get noxacusis burning occasionally for a...
...amoxicillin at different times and still my middle ear is swollen and in pain. I'm going to an ENT neurologist to see if she can help me ease the pain. I figure it's just a very very long healing time. Does it feel like an acid burning pain in your ear? I pray this pain goes away by End of year.
...Now my LDLs are lower, like I can't tolerate anything over 50 dB without ear protection, which is what happened last time. I also had burning ears last time, and I have it again this time but it's going away.
And I can tolerate running water and low noises but everything else sounds louder...
Hello @Arnaudswiss,
Thank you for sharing your experience!
I wish you had seen more improvement and am sorry to hear that the tinnitus still bothers you. It’s such a strange condition!
It would be interesting to see what would happen if you had more sessions—whether your tinnitus would fade a...
...you're doing okay mentally. I feel like it's pretty much the same for me. I may be getting less stabbing pain but still getting aches and burning. Idk if this is a good sign? I also have a weird new tone that sounds like a star wars light saber that comes and goes in my bad ear but at this...
...but I'm sure that my pain is caused by noise because I can feel the stabbing pain in my ear as I hear noise, and then there's a delayed burning pain.
I've had severe noxacusis since January.
I tried to live normally in the beginning, but I realized it was simply not possible. After going...
...has given me side effects, and it’s incredibly frustrating!
NAC - short of breath and terrible hangover feeling.
Turmeric - fever and skin burning sensation all over
NAD - burning & tingling face, neck, arms
Fish oil - burning & tingling face, neck, arms
ALA - burning & tingling face, neck...
Yes, my noxacousis has an entire pain complex during events: TMJ, neck and shoulder pain, brain burning, migraine. I am exploring my forward head posture, jaw issues, inflammatory triggers, etc.

You are a new case. Rest your ears, get silence and don’t take meds. Whatever you do, just don’t do TRT, lol.
Things will most definitely calm down but you do need to be patient.
Wish I had done this earlier but I kept making my noxacusis worse.
Sorry, that’s a crappy way to get noxacusis...
thanks for the reply. i had mild h for a couple months and it got moderate in march. its alot better after 5 months and i dont really get the stabbing feeling only some burning in my bad ear and some tinnitus spikes.
Are you noticing any TTTS symptoms? Any fluttering, thumping, or itching in your ear? Burning is sometimes a symptom of trigeminal nerve sensitization that stems from middle ear involvement.
i mean for christ sakes the freaking twin towers was still burning with smoke literally near the time you got tinnitus, im sorry but it just blows my MIND how much time has passed from 02. God you are strong. you deserve a cure so much. please let us be the last of this generation to deal with...
I took 30 mg pills orally, but it didn't do a lot from what I remember. I tried it topically because of a few articles I read around that time, like this, plus a few others out there:
Topical Ambroxol 20% for the Treatment of Classical Trigeminal Neuralgia - A New Option? Initial Clinical Case...
That’s great you have had so much progress! I am wondering if it was just gradual, consistent improvement over time, or more improvement in the beginning? And did you ever get a volume reduction of your tinnitus?
Sorry for all the questions, your symptoms just sound quite similar to mine and I...
I listen to lots of Reggae bands. My favourites are Burning Spear, Culture, Black Uhuru, Peter Tosh, Don Carlos, Bob Marley, Damian Marley, Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Dennis Brown. I keep diggin' and finding more artists.
@Safari1999 oh I know! I have hyperacusis too. Basically, it’s all a bitch. I guess I’m just used to the burning ear pain which gets worse with every sound.
I have had this since 2019. I don't think its drug induced. I did a lot of driving in that year without hearing protection and that did spike my T often and then also gave me ear canal burning/pain hyperacusis. With this also the palinacousis came.
...people on forums discouraged it. I had no idea I would experience such catastrophic tinnitus, along with increased head pressure and worse burning and tingling sensations in my skin after stopping. I only developed these extreme symptoms (especially the burning) after my taper failed...
...more common when you start to expose yourself to sounds again (like you do know), but it should be temporary. In my personal experience, the burning/warm sensation is more present when stressed and ears are fatigued.
Yes, it will take time to return to "normal". I'm in it for the long run...
I’ve been drinking a ton of ginger beverages lately and I think it really does help with noxacusis burning. It’s short-lived relief but I consistently notice that the burning drastically reduces about 10 minutes after I consume ginger and seems to stay that way for a few hours. It often...
Hey @ZFire, sorry for the delay. The work is OK, but I am a mess with yet another severely debilitating condition. I cannot sit down for even 2 minutes without severe burning pain. Spending 23 hours of the day horizontal. Nerve pain is the pits. I can’t believe this is happening.
T 2.0
Such as?
Hey, thanks for your answer. By reactive to noise, do you mean immediate pain as the sound waves hit your ear so to speak, or pain that sets in some time after noise exposure?
...to severe hyperacusis.
I strongly believe that there are 3 separate conditions: loudness hyperacusis, loudness hyperacusis with pain, and burning hyperacusis. I have the latter 2 conditions. I don’t think exposure therapy works for burning hyperacusis i.e. noxacusis. I think it worsens it...
I’ve been drinking a lot of Ginger ale and Ginger tea lately, and I believe it may be helping to temporarily calm the burning “sunburn” pain from noxacusis. Kind of like popping an Aspirin for a headache.
I was wondering if other folks with noxacusis could try upping their Ginger intake for a...
