    Inflammation Feeling in Inner Ear

I’m curious if anyone else deals with this: When my tinnitus is at its highest in volume and at its most intrusive, I notice that my left ear feels “full” (I’m congenitally deaf in my right ear), but fullness is not exactly how to describe it. My inner ear actually feels inflamed. I’ve noticed...

New Member, Mike — Constantly Worried About Making My Tinnitus Worse

@MikeO123 123 What caused your acoustic trauma? Unfortunately, we will all be exposed to loud noises throughout the day. Almost daily, something will happen at my work, or I'll drop something at home and it'll be really loud (I have hyperacusis, too -- especially when my tinnitus is louder on...

Electrical Tools (Mainly Grinders on Steel) Caused an Increase in Tinnitus — Temporary?

@toohp By hearing protection, do you mean earplugs or actual earmuffs over your ears? I was wearing earplugs when I used a metal grinder to cut corrugated metal and that's how I ended up with T. If you're just using earplugs, I don't think that's enough. If I were you, I'd double up with both...

13 Months with Tinnitus. First 8 Months Constant, Last 5 Months Has Become Intermittent.

@KMc24 My T is identical to yours: High pitched hissing "air escaping" sound that fluctuates in volume throughout the week. It's completely random and no diet/sleep/stress reduction seems to affect it one way or the other. You're not alone, man. I too hope it eventually fades, but I'll be honest...

Long Time Reader, First Time Poster.

@OldManNorman I loved your videos! They were really helpful. One suggestion: that popping sound when the "subscribe" button came up was a little loud. I would just get rid of any sounds like that. But these are great. Your suggestions are concrete and doable and your positive. calm delivery is...

Every 3 Days There Will Be an Annoying, Loud Hissing Mostly in My Left Ear — The Cycle Repeats

@Sharbear Your experience describes my T since my acoustic trauma last Sept. I'll have a couple of days that are quiet (it's still there, but almost imperceptible for most of the day) and then it ramps back up and it's much more difficult to tune out. It's made habituation difficult, but I've...

    Writers?

@VictorDedalus I'm both a writer (freelance on the side) and a big reader. As they say in journalism, you might have buried the lede: "While it's difficult for me to say whether it's gotten objectively louder, I'm more and more troubled by it and my ability to focus is dwindling." You need to...

    Day by Day Fluctuating Tinnitus

My tinnitus fluctuates as well. I obtained tinnitus, which sounds like the hissing of air coming out of a tire, after using a metal grinding tool. My 6-month anniversary is coming up tomorrow. There are days when my tinnitus is very quiet and can only be heard if I listen for it, but there are...

    Anxiety Influencing Tinnitus Spikes

For me, it can be a vicious cycle at times: A spike makes me anxious, which makes my perception of T much more anxiety provoking, which then affects my sleep, which makes the T worse the next day. Overall, anxiety/stress management seems very important when handling T for sure.

Long Time Tinnitus, First Time Poster — Tinnitus Intensity Increasing to the Point of Great Concern

I've noticed that booze makes my T quieter. This condition is so strange...

One of the Quietest Stretches with Tinnitus — Then It Started Ramping Up Again

@Bill Bauer Yeah I could. I also found a daily questionnaire from the guy who wrote Rewiring Tinnitus that has a bunch of details to track progress (diet, noise exposure, sleep) that I was thinking about using, too. It's finding that balance of being active in my recovery without being...

One of the Quietest Stretches with Tinnitus — Then It Started Ramping Up Again

Thanks to @Bill Bauer @Gman and @jeas for all of your suggestions and advice. I watched more TV than usual over the weekend and I wonder if that aggravated it. I really need to start tracking my spikes. It's quieter today than it was yesterday; still there for sure, but not at the same...

One of the Quietest Stretches with Tinnitus — Then It Started Ramping Up Again

Last week, from Monday Feb 11th until Sunday afternoon on the 17th, I had one of the quietest stretches I've had since getting tinnitus 5 1/2 months ago. I could still hear it in very quiet environments, but the volume was significantly lower and it was much more manageable. It was so dramatic...

Three and a 1/2 Months In — First Time Posting

@Drone Draper Thanks for checking in. I appreciate it. It's been five months to the day with T. No improvement unfortunately, at least in terms of the volume and the intrusive affect on my daily life. It's a constant hissing sound that's at a pretty high pitch -- like the sound of air leaving a...

    Posting Out of Desperation

@Bill Bauer Sometimes I cut them in half. I do feel drowsy in the morning sometimes if I take 5mg, but if it's on the weekend, it doesn't matter as much. I'll keep experimenting with it.

    Posting Out of Desperation

@Stigma82 I've been suffering with tinnitus for the last 3 1/2 months after cutting metal with a grinder. I promise you, you are not alone in feeling panic, losing sleep, feeling hopeless, scared, etc. But, like others have said, it will get better. It will fade with time AND you will get...

Three and a 1/2 Months In — First Time Posting

@Bill Bauer I've had quiet periods since it happened. It's like 2-3 bad days, then one good day, then back to it being louder. This evening while writing this, I'm in a dead quiet room and it's pretty much silent. I should add, I started taking melatonin and I'm sleeping much better. So I...

Three and a 1/2 Months In — First Time Posting

@Bill Bauer The T started within hours after I used the grinder. I appreciate the encouraging words. Your posts have been valuable to me. Thanks to @JohnAdams and @New Guy too! It's a cliché, but I'm just trying to take it one day at a time.

Three and a 1/2 Months In — First Time Posting

On September 3, 2018, I was using a grinder power tool to cut some corrugated metal. I'd never used the tool before and I was just trying it out. I had foam earplugs in, thinking that would be enough. I used the tool for no more than two minutes -- I just cut a few three-foot sheets. Well, a...
