@cyberspace it's literally a new tone that appears in the night, it wakes me up and stays for a few minutes sometimes hours. Some of those tones have stayed with me, permanently.
Yeap! Quite regularly in the past few months. Also in the middle of the night, and that scares the shi* out of me and can't go back to sleep because of the new tone.
No, unfortunately I've never had any periods of no T since it started 7 years ago, for my it gets louder with certain movements. So I guess that's good news, you must have sine sort of somatic T that improved with movement
This condition is very random, it makes no sense and there is no explanation for some of the spikes. I try and try to unders6 what could I possibly have done to cause a certain spike. Nothing, I do nothing and I still make it worse. Hope it settles
That was me back in Sept. Out of the blue my right ear developed a high pitch morse code tone 24/7. It has settled now and it's only on the background and sometimes it's intrusive while sleeping, very random. Hope you get better
I've been taking magnesium for 2 years. Has done nothing good or bad to my T and H, but I still take it before bed . They say it's good... But who knows
@Mo8409 I only have a mild hearing loss in my r. Ear. But its not causing me any issues, my hearing is good. My T started really really mild in 2015 just in my left ear, and has been getting worse progressively. Now I have H and very loud T in both ears
I'm working on that too for my H, doing more things at home Without protection. Some days a better than others but in general, I feel exhausted from this illness.
@Strawberryblonde I don't really get any improvements as such, I just keep habituating to louder and louder tones and when I am mentally more stable and accepting my T it becomes worse again. So I'm at a point now where it's just a huge pile of new tones that keep stacking up. And the H does not...
Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Things aren't great. I have a few weeks were T is not very intrusive but all of a sudden I find myself with new multiple tones that just keep stacking up. It's unbearable the level right now. I hope you're ok
Haha, I thought I was the only crazy person that had long chats with me T. Sometimes when I'm in a good mood I'm nice to it, but mostly I'm telling it to behave
@CRGC that's great. Both my T and H are out of control completely. No matter what I do, how much I protect my ears, they get worse, they change and they just cause me so much depression. My life is unbearable right now. So I'm going for a different approach and see what happens
I'm going to try and change my attitude towards my T and H bc it's getting unbearable, I can't live like this. So in my head today I'm just like f** it... If it's going to ring, let it ring. If it gets louder, then that's it. I can't take this anymore
@Sammy0225 my H started a few weeks after my big T spike, which went from a mild T that caused me no issues for 3 years to debilitating T and noise sensitivity. It gradually became worse to the point I wear ear defenders at home for most things. I don't work at the moment ( I'm a teacher so...)...
I had the same spasms you are describing, and surprisingly I stopped noticing after I got my awful Hyperacusis spike. I guess the new H leve just took over the whole thing. I get clicking sounds now. So annoying
@Theezy I have been struggling since I got ear fullness and a T spike out of no where while at work 2 months ago. Then the H got so bad I can't even do things at home. I'm off work and suffering
Sometimes I feel the more I protect them the worse my T and hyperacusis get. If only we knew what to do, and to what extend protecting from normal noises is actually beneficial. I'm not risking it, I overprotect, but it's tricky.
Is your T keeping you awake or the anxiety and stress over it? If it's the later it can be treated, I know it seems hopeless but once I tackled my anxiety, my sleep improved a lot. I did it with hypnotherapy.
@UKBloke I think that's what the doctor said to me. I'll wait and see, but I expect nothing from it. I said to him I have severe hyperacusis. If they are going to teach me how to meditate while listening to some sounds... I'm f**ed
I tried it and unfortunately did nothing to my T. The experience was nice and relaxing, but no improvements. I'm happy that it's working for you. Keep it up
The frustration when your close ones don't understand. We know we have anxiety because of this, but that doesn't mean the symptoms are created by our anxiety. Hyperacusis is a painful, and those loud noises (and not so loud) feel like knives cutting through our ears.
If T is unaffected, that's a win then! Ive got the theory that when our body is going through another problem/illness (fever, bad stomach, joint pain) the auditory system is not our brain's priority and we perceive our T less. Of course this is just my opinion. Hope your T stays like that!!
I could say I'm on the same boat. Sudden ear pressure gave me a whole day of sound distortions (luckily that subsided) and a set of new tones that keep stacking up. That was 2 months ago. Don't know what to do anymore. I'm exhausted
@TheIncident what you've written here is much appreciated, but what's left of a life if we have to live in a cave? How do we work? We need money... It's not just like we do this temporarily and then we get better. This is basically not living.
What is with the breathing and scratching. Mine has been reacting to that to, luckily that settled down. My right ear also twitches/has a spasm if I touch the right side of my face... Surreal
@Mal25 I've been reading through your posts as I'm in a similar position right now. How are you?? It's very interesting what you mentioned about your iron. Mine was low when I had my two major spikes.
When family are not supportive is even more frustrating. I've experienced that. Luckily now I live with my sister and she is always just as caution as I would be when making noise. She always tells me first when she uses the hair dryer, blender, hoover, dishes, so I can run and hide
Yes @SmallRonnie I have X5 Peltor for home as they are too bulky. Then I got a pair of noise cancelling headphones which are meant to be for music obviously, but I wear them everywhere and they cancel out lots of noise.
No hearing loss I think, actually everything sounds louder. It started with ear fullness and pressure, followed by a weird sensation in my head and the hyperacisis spike
@CRGC nothing at all, I was at work in a silent room for hours working on my PC. Nothing has happened this week either. I'm devastated. I'm locked up in my bedroom right now. Just opening a drawer is unbearable
