I just saw an audiologist. I had a tinnitus test and a hearing test. He said my tinnitus tested at 15 dB. I mentioned that I saw people here post that they had tinnitus up to 60 dB. He said that isn't real and that they are wrong, the highest tested is 25 dB. Just thought I'd pass it on.

Oxazepam is listed as "no" for ototoxicity. I did some further research that supported this. Klonopin seems to be the most effective, but I don't see it listed here so I didn't risk it. I got Oxazepam, it's working great.

I'm in a real pickle now... I've been battling alcohol for some time. It was an issue before tinnitus, but now it's worse because I use alcohol for the stress and sleep. I get withdrawals if I stop, so it's not good.... Anyway, my problem is this: Valium really helps with alcohol withdrawal...

I "measure" it by how it sounds "in the air", and if I can hear it over my white noise machine more easily, etc. If I'm relaxed, I won't hear it in the shower, but if I focus... it's like I THINK I can but can't tell? That sort of thing.

So I'm always thinking to myself "when I put my earplugs in, is the ringing actually louder than it was in the beginning?" At times I swear I'm having a spike, but then think to myself "I was complaining about the same thing this time last year." My paranoia is that it is slowly getting worse...
