@aab and yes I got rid of nox. It took 6 months. Like the fire guy said everyone is different and this isnt a one fits all cure or fix. Nox is a tricky thing to work with but it can be fixed with time.
@aab Something happened along the way. So the brain says "hey! This sound is painful." So in order to undo that is to slowly expose yourself to simple everyday noises. Dishes, TV, etc. obviously if it's a lawn mower you'd wear protection. I went though therapy at the University of Michigan and...
@aab @ZFire does have a point. You do what works for you. I work in Neurology and this is what I've been given as a patient as also working with patients. If you have hearing damage then you have to take an easier approach to sound exposure. I don't have hearing damage. So my sound therapy is a...
Work wasn't too bad, thankfully. Actually the new kitten comes tomorrow morning. She's a rescue so they have to come to my house to make sure everything is clean and safe for a cat. ❤️ I haven't had a pet in over 10 years and hoping it's an easy transition.
@RunningMan I still have my moments but I'm pushing forward or forcing myself to. I will pray for you to get back to your old baseline. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.
@BrOKeN_1 Thankyou, I appreciate that. Being upset that I (we) have T won't change the fact that it happened. I try to do research on undoing it and finding the cause, treating symptoms and share my progress with you guys. Life is short and there's no time to waste obsessing about something that...
You have to understand how tinnitus and hyperacusis works in order to understand why the brain does what it does. In short, your brain needs to be exposed daily to everyday noises in order to reassure itself that sound is safe and not hurtful.
@Tryn2BHopeful I understand. I've said that many times too. Soooo many people live with this and carry on and we will too. Does it suck, absolutely but we can only go forward from here.
It's possible. It's so early on with you (us) still. Mines loud but there are times I forget about it and my mind makes the noise stop. Habituation is gonna take awhile to happen. You're doing great, keep going.
Baby steps is key. Keep trying to watch TV with it, relax with it. Try for 15 mins one day, then 30, etc. you'll get there, keep going.
No one said this was easy but you got this.
@RunningMan Sending a hug back to ya. I like being outside too. So since this is my first winter with T, I'll have to stay busy. Gym, house projects, work extra hours, etc.
@TheCapybara Thank you for listening to my little speech. Hopefully we can get though this season change without too much trouble. This is my first winter with T. So its an adjustment to say the least.
@Stayinghopeful Thank you for reaching out. It probably has a lot to do with the weather. It's grey everyday and dark by 5pm because winter is coming. Maybe a gym membership would do me good. Hope you're doing well.
Not all cases get worse. My brother who has it because of hearing loss has had it 16+ years. His is the same level of noise. My father got it from aspirin 30 years ago. Also stayed the same volume. Each case is different. Keep faith.
@Juliane I'm telling ya. This place is hard. Most days I'm able to cope with everything that has happened but then I have those moments of dispair like everyone else and just completely melt down. Between the loss of my beautiful boy and then my new diagnosis and T. My life has completely been...
@kingsfan I appreciate your comment, thank you. I continue on because I also have a 14 year old daughter. If I killed myself .. she wouldn't have any parents left. I live for others, not myself.
@ErikaS Oh, I wish. Thankyou though. It wasn't for my brain. They don't want to touch that unless my symptoms are more severe because surgery can actually make things worse for Chiari Malformation patients. I had a tumor removed from my ribcage. Thank you though. I have a feeling I'm a lifer...
@4Grace You do have to keep living and pushing through. I started out with nox. The only way to heal that is with constant exposure but safely do it. All nox is, is the brain saying this noise hurts and the only way to undo that is reminding the brain that it's a safe noise.
@Tryn2BHopeful I'm really sorry to hear this. My husband is very supportive and listens everytime I'd talk about it. Even if I repeat myself he still listens like it's the first time I told him. Marriage is for better or worse and they should be supportive each and every time.
It's a hard condition but it doesn't define you or your life. You will get to a point that you'll be okay if it doesn't go away. It's a common condition that half of the world found a way to coexist with it and so will you.
Your spike will calm down, just give it some time. I know waiting seems impossible when every second is hard but time is the healer. You got this. Cry if you must, get mad but don't let T win! It's gonna be okay. ❤️
@ErikaS I mean mine was med induced but it also "woke up" my hidden brain malformation I didn't know I had, the perfect storm. So my prognosis isn't any better then yours with my brain all messed up but things do happen. Keep the faith!
@ErikaS I can still hear it over the fan but it doesn't react as much most days and then there's days like today where it's a little louder but compared to what it was it's a win! I have hope for you and your body healing, I really do.
@xLuchiaaa The only reason I took the med in the first place was because my heart was acting up and the hospital kept saying it was anxiety but I didn't feel nervous and even stated that. Little did they know I had a brain malformation that was causing my heart to act up but now it's too late.
@xLuchiaaa I'm going on 7 months. I'll probably have it for life. Who knows. Yeah it's actually harder to refuse meds it seems. I never take anything and the time I did I get T, figures.
