Whoah that is some dangerous advice. How do you know protection leads to worse hyperacusis? Can you show us evidence? Many people, including myself, have become permanently worse from noise which should not be loud and long enough to damage our hearing.

All of what you've said is very true. In their defense though, Otonomy did release Otiprio for swimmer's ear. They later sold it.

Otonomoy's OTO-6XX is aimed at hair cell "repair" instead of regeneration. Unfortunately the company is in a really bad shape so I don't know if the drug will ever get released.

They have already stated multiple times that they will do a full Phase 2 first.

Btw, the main author of this research is a Belgian PhD student and finalist in the Belgian PhD Cup. I hope she wins, it would bring quite some attention to tinnitus here.

Belgian researchers are also working on this.

Even if their hearing drug flops, their MS drug might save them; who knows.

Their Phase one trial was finished back in 2015. The current inflation and interest rate rises didn't cause companies from picking up the drug back then. They were even ahead of Frequency Therapeutics. I agree, something is very fishy here. I feel bad for all the people who donated to them...

That doesn't really matter, you need a control group to see if the improvement is linked to the placebo effect in any way. Just look at the various drug trials that failed because the placebo groups saw similar benefit.
