    Crickets Mask My Tinnitus Completely

Hi there, I too listen to cricket sounds to sleep and in the evenings sometimes when my T is playing up and I can't relax and watch TV. I downloaded a sleep app to my iPhone, it's called Sleep Sounds (there are loads of great sounds on there to choose from) the sound I like is called Jungle and...

Tinnitus Research Taking Place in Dallas

Tinnitus is weird Jeannie ! I also find that a glass or two of wine knocks my tinnitus out completely for a while and yet some people say alcohol makes their T worse. Thankfully, nowadays, I'm unaware of my T most of the time (and even experience silence at times). I've no idea what's going on...

Tinnitus Research Taking Place in Dallas

My tinnitus is in my head only (a hissing sound). I have no tinnitus sounds at all in my ears and never have - I have normal hearing (for my age). My tinnitus was caused by stress. Although I am 90+% habituated now (21 months in), I hope some insight can be had as to why some people develop...

Otonomy Starting Phase 1 Trial in 2015 for Tinnitus

A phase 11 trial will only commence if the results from the phase 1 trial are positive. I think the phase 1 trial has only just started so it will be a little while yet before we know the results and when/if and where a phase 11 will begin.

Otonomy Starting Phase 1 Trial in 2015 for Tinnitus

No clinicals trials cannot see inside your brain but that has always been the case with any drug that affects the brain - anti psychotics, anti depressants, epilepsy drugs, even paracetomol. This is why new drugs are closely monitored for years in order to discover what the affects are over...

Otonomy Starting Phase 1 Trial in 2015 for Tinnitus

The good news for us is that when a drug is developed and proves efficacious, even in a specific cohort of patients, other pharma companies then try to 'better' that drug in order to grab the business. So they will look to improve efficacy and/or tolerability and/or a target a larger cohort of...

There's some good stuff going on in respect of drug research and development for tinnitus at the moment. There's also stem cell procedures under investigation. I think there are many conspiracy theories being bandied about regarding the failure of Aut63. But it simply didn't show the efficacy they were hoping it would, so there was no point in continuing with the trial. This happens all the time in drug development. I really don't believe it's anything...

I'm also an advocate of wine (red or white) after 2 glasses my T virtually disappears ! I think the important thing is not to over do it - relying on alcohol is s very bad idea. I think it's wrong to say there will be know cure / treatment for 8-10 years. That is just conjecture on your part and is in no way based on fact. Please don't post statements you cannot substantiate with facts. No-one knows when a treatment may come along . . . that is a fact.

Me too amandine, in my head. I do seem to be habituating fairly well though as a lot of the time these days I don't notice my T so much. That said, I think the process of habituation can be a bit of a double edged sword - because I don't notice my T a lot of the time now, when I do it really...

Sleeping with Sounds or Silence? Which Is Better for Tinnitus Sufferers?

I sleep with nature sounds on all night, at a volume just below that of my tinnitus. Not only does this help me sleep but, apparently, it's good to give your brain something else to listen to (other than the tinnitus) even when you're asleep.

@RaZaH Argh righto, that is similar to me. My T has never been in my ears, mine is a high frequency hiss in my head. Apparently about 15% of T sufferers have it exclusively in their head/brain. I've often said to people that it's not just a sound in my head, alot of the time it's more like a...
