OMG, I got the new AirPods Pro 2’s and even from the setting up process they badly spiked my tinnitus - I now have a strange ear pressure feeling in my left ear so I’m sending them back. These things are dangerous and should be avoided at all costs!

Looks like they are starting shipping next month and I'm interested in this given that my ear canals are easily irritated. I doubt I could stomach in-ear maskers?

I have I'm relieved to say. I think it took me a good 3+ months, but habituation has kicked in thank goodness so now I can sleep again without listening to sounds on my phone much to my significant relief. I have also invested in some custom fit earplugs so I am looking forward to them arriving...

I think it's a blend of different things. Given that I'm approaching month 3 of my spike, I'm eager to try it and will report back!

Thanks, I will try that! I saw another ENT today and they insisted on giving me microsuction on my right ear. I didn't enjoy the experience, I also think it's made my tinnitus slightly worse.

Nothing yet I'm afraid. I'm coming to terms with the worsening but strangely a hearing test showed some mild hearing loss in the 4 - 8 kHz range, but not in the higher frequencies which are supposed to go fast, so if Doxycycline was the cause, why did it hit the mid range, I wonder?

Yes very much so. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and I think physically there are issues (I can change the tinnitus pitch by opening my jaw wide or moving my head far left). My tinnitus is spiked by medication; most recently Doxycycline. And so I think it's part head and part ears.

My spike did eventually calm down after months, but that may have just been my brain adapting to the higher tone and screening it out.

I took Metronidazole for a week and it spiked my tinnitus. That was 2 months ago. I hope things will improve.

Unfortunately for me, I took Metronidazole in November for a week for a water works issue (which it sorted) but it spiked my tinnitus and 2 months on is still a lot worse than it used to be :-(

Thanks. Yes at least I used the earplugs! As for my hyperacusis, it's in my left ear that also has the tinnitus and certain sounds set it off, putting cutlery away, putting glass into the recycling, Christmas crackers (I have discovered).

It's a slow release tablet over a 24 hour period and it started to take effect within an hour of me taking it. Unfortunately for me, any advantage I had earlier was taken away when I managed to get my MRI for my ears brought forward to today - it was the loudest MRI I had ever experienced...

So I tried it (Alfuzosin) last night and got almost immediate relief from the hyperacusis in my left ear.

I have Alfuzosin which is similar I believe, so I'm going to try that and will report back.

Hey all. I recently took Metronidazole for a water infection, 5 days, 400mg twice a day. At the time my tinnitus didn’t seem too affected but progressively it has spiked my tinnitus to the point now it’s the worst it’s ever been. It's been two weeks since finishing the course now.
