    Antibiotics? Tinnitus Spikes?

I have both tinnitus and MEM. I’m supposed to be put on Doxycycline for 10 days for Lyme disease. Sounds like a bad idea, for someone who’s already suffering from these conditions in my ears? Another options are Phenoxymethylpenicillin and Amoxicillin. But I don’t know if they are less...

Can MEM (Middle Ear Myoclonus) Cause Spasms of the Outer Ear?

I have no idea, if i understood it correctly it has to be done by a neurologist and the ones I've spoken to so far haven't been very helpful. I will keep looking into that tho, thank you!

Thank you for your reply! I’m in the same boat, I need something quick or I doubt my body will be able to handle the lack of sleep. =( But doctors here in Sweden are SO restrictive with meds. I’m glad you found something that worked for you!

Recently Developed MEM (Middle Ear Myoclonus) Which Is Ruining My Life — Tinnitus for Years

Oh gosh how I feel for you and relate to you. I’m so sorry. People who get to sleep have no idea how lucky they are. It’s same for me, noise triggers my tinnitus so masking it often comes with a price. I’ve heard of Benadryl before, is it helping with your MEM at all? It’s not available in my...

Oh goodness I’m so sorry. I really wanna try something because I haven’t slept in a week but I certainly don’t want to make it worse. Did your spasms get a little better again after you quit the mitrazapine?

Can MEM (Middle Ear Myoclonus) Cause Spasms of the Outer Ear?

I’m so sorry you have those type of spasms too! Are you diagnosed with MEM and has a doctor ever said anything about it being able to cause these ”outer” spasms? Or any other explanation? My doctor says it’s impossible for MEM to cause the outer ear to twitch but I just find it so hard to believe.

Recently Developed MEM (Middle Ear Myoclonus) Which Is Ruining My Life — Tinnitus for Years

No, my regular ringing tinnitus I can mask to some degree, but not the MEM. Sound seems to set it off even more to be honest. It’s absolute HELL. I’m doing all I can to find some doctor who can help in any way but yeah, I’m in the wrong place. Wish I lived in the UK or so. Thanks for listening...

Can MEM (Middle Ear Myoclonus) Cause Spasms of the Outer Ear?

A few months ago I developed MEM, though I’m not sure which muscle is the problem. But I have a pretty much constant flutter inside my ears that get worse after burping and I also wake up from it at night a lot. Sometimes it’s more of a ”thump” kind of sound. It’s escalated the past 2 weeks...

Hi Joe, thanks for your reply! I’m sorry to hear your tinnitus affected you so much, but glad you’ve found some things that seems to be working for you. Mine used to have a very negative impact on me as well, until I simply got ”used to it” somehow. But the MEM I doubt I’ll ever manage. It’s...

Those Who Have or Had Middle Ear Myoclonus (MEM), Does It Get Better?

I also recently got MEM and am so hoping it will go away. It’s been crazy for about 2 weeks. I’m already on Diazepam so it’s hard to tell how much it helps or if at all. I just want it to stop. The nights are the worst for me. I do have TMJ as well.
