Oticon More™ Hearing Aids Silenced My Friend's Tinnitus

I have a 35 dB dip at 6 kHz and if I play a recording of 6 kHz on YouTube, I struggle to hear it. Would that mean my hearing loss is the same as my tinnitus frequency? I’ve never thought of hearing aids but maybe it is an option. The rest of my hearing is within normal limits up to 8 kHz...

My Success Story: Habituation *Is* Real

Thank you for the reply. I think mine are linked too, the intensity of both fluctuates massively which makes me think it can’t be an “ear injury” which would just remain consistent?

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I started using it in July and finished in January. I’m pretty sure it’s permanent now.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I asked about the hyperacusis/super responder link in my last appointment and they said they are not seeing this being replicated in anywhere near the numbers they were in the trials since it’s been rolled out.

Lenire — User Experiences and Reviews

I began using Lenire in July 2019. I used it exactly as prescribed for the first 12 weeks and didn’t miss a single session. I noticed immediately that the device spiked my tinnitus to a very high level straight after using it so I chose to do two sessions back to back in the evening as I...

He is one of the people featured in the testimonial videos so I can vouch they are genuine users and not paid actors.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I have been talking to someone who took part in the trial, and had a good improvement, only to have their tinnitus come back again. He’s been using the device now for the 2nd time and has gone down from a 7/10 to a 5/10. I don’t want to name him as I haven’t checked with him first.

Was this the case @kelpiemsp that you had to focus your attention on the sounds that were being played?

They also used the TFI in the trials which uses a scale of 1-10 and 1-100 which is more sensitive.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

No one has the device yet so there is nothing to report yet. Also once people start using it it may take many weeks/months for any change to occur so it’s going to be a while.
  22. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Perhaps they had to wait to see what uptake would be like before they ordered 100s/1000s of the device to be made? Plus they need time to factor in 3 follow-up visits for each patient. They’ve probably got a limited number of devices at the moment plus a finite number of new appointments they...

Ha! I know! He must be sick of us all.
  26. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I messaged Padraig on Facebook - he told me overall he would say he got about a 10% reduction and only noticed a subtle change. He did say though that since then his tinnitus has stopped bothering him and is not an issue anymore so it sounds like he has habituated to it.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I believe @Clearance’s story is totally true. I know lots of people who’ve recovered from tinnitus and now go to concerts etc. without ear protection. Once tinnitus is gone, normal life quickly resumes. Why would she make such a story up?

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

If MuteButton/Lenire can silence tinnitus how does this fit in with the theory that tinnitus is caused by hearing loss and the research that’s going on into regeneration of hearing to treat tinnitus? Can someone who knows way more about it than me give me a beginner's explanation if possible...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Mine is strange - the hoover or hairdryer doesn’t bother me but the sound of beeping at till checkouts, washing up, tv or someone laughing suddenly is really uncomfortable and spikes my tinnitus up. I’ve not been sure if it’s reactivity or hyperacusis?
  36. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

On that one slide it showed the worse the hyperacusis was, the better the response. I think in the interview they said they took people with an intolerance to sound at 65 dB or less to be hyperacustic and said that in this group over 90% responded to the treatment. The PDF has been deleted now...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

They have also got a 10 dB reduction in volume that is clinically significant. I don’t think hearing regeneration is the one-stop-fix-it-all. My dad is deaf as a post, he can’t hear a thing without hearing aids. He doesn’t have a hint of tinnitus. I have mild hearing loss and my tinnitus is...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Things progress, things change, everything is a learning curve. I was a kid in the 80s when AIDS was going to wipe out humanity. There was no cure on the horizon and every house got sent an information letter about how to protect yourself from it! Last week, very quietly and hardly covered, it...
  42. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

There haven’t been robust clinical trials for most of these. I’ve done TRT and the evidence is mostly anecdotal. They say 80% of people habituate to their tinnitus with TRT within 2 years of when you start it. That’s the same rate as natural habituation. These results with Neuromod are within 6...
  43. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I think they are releasing it professionally rather than rushing it out which says a lot about the company. They will have invested a lot of money in this so when they release it they will want the release to be spot on. They know there is a huge market for it, they aren’t a big pharmaceutical...

  45. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I rang Neuromod today and asked if they’ve got a release date. They said they haven’t made it public yet but will let people know who have signed up for further information as soon as they do. I asked if it was likely to be months away and they said not months, it’s coming out very soon.
  46. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Have they released how much it will cost? How much is it?
  47. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Yes - I was just looking at the presentation slides thinking the same about the plateau effect after 12 weeks. It would make sense that you might get further reduction after a break. You might get some natural habituation to a new lower level tinnitus during a break then you could give it...
  48. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I wonder if they’ve trialled patients using the device for longer than 12 weeks. Or what happens with doing two blocks of treatment ? Could you technically use it once for 12 weeks and bring your tinnitus down a level then use it again a few months later and bring it down some more etc until...
  49. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I wonder if they’ll release it through The Tinnitus Clinic in the UK? Would make sense I guess as they are already established and sell other devices?
  50. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Yes - I wonder if getting down to top end of mild would then make it easier to habituate? Maybe the continued reduction in THI scores after treatment has ended shows some natural habituation kicking in to the new lower level?
  51. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

TDT is their version of TRT, isn’t it? That’s different to the Neuromod device.
  52. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

  53. S

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

They’ve given a spread of patient responses which probably reflects the spectrum of results they got. @Clare B got total silence but she wasn't featured in a testimonial so there must be others who had good results too?

    Doing Nothing Worked for Me

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply @Dginobile. My Positive Story and Insights to Habituation

@JohnAdams By that definition you’re not fully habituated then yet? On your way though? I have friends who have it and it never bothers them, even when it’s screaming loud. They notice the volume increase but still don’t have a reaction to it- they neither find it pleasant or unpleasant and...
