Is Fluid Behind My Eardrum Causing My Tinnitus?

I had already had a bad experience with an ear irrigation before that. I have no idea why I was so stupid to think something like that wouldn’t do anything. I’m thinking it’s the fluid as well but I feel like my Eustachian tube is shut off (I can’t pop my left ear at all).

Is Fluid Behind My Eardrum Causing My Tinnitus?

Hey all, so I posted in May of last year about how my tinnitus started after an ear irrigation at my on-campus doctor's office at my university. Anyways, it's now been 9 months and this hasn't been letting up. Initially I suspected that my tinnitus was due to the ear irrigation maybe flushing...

The reason why I'm kicking myself is cause I knew about tinnitus, I've had some very mild tinnitus for a while now, ever since my ear problems started kicking in around Middle School. It's just that this recent irrigation has thrown it totally out of wack. I'm hoping this is just an extended...

The thing that drives me crazy is that it doesn't increase significantly in volume with background noise, it just seems to increase in step with background noise to maintain the same volume, which in a way is actually more irritating than reactivity because it doesn't feel like reactivity.

Yea I'm 20 and I don't want to have to live like this. It's completely screwing me over too because I need to go for an internship by next summer and Idk how I'm supposed to function at an interview like this. I'm hoping my ENT can provide some answers but I'm kinda doubting it. It feels better...

Bro I'm kicking myself because if I just hadn't been a fucking idiot and went and got that cleaning all because of some stupid idea that I could improve my hearing without messing anything up. I was on a full 3 ish years with zero ear problems man.

@EternalRinging I'm also seriously hoping mine is because of ETD because if not then it's probably permanent and that would fucking suck since I'm in Sophomore year at Uni. I already had ETD before it (left ear couldn't pop and was kinda sorta feeling clogged) so I'm hoping the irrigation just...

Hmm that's interesting, I'm sorry you have to deal with this, the past month+ has been hell for me. I can find ways to distract myself but it's just constantly there man.

Also @EternalRinging did you have any other complications before the irrigation? The reason why I think mine could be ETD related is because my left ear doesn't pop and my hearing is muffled. I also hear like crackling sounds when I chew, all of which are ETD symptoms.

Yea so I stopped using Flonase and it seems to have calmed down. I can't get into an ENT until mid July at the earliest and my PCP keeps screwing up the referral papers. I'm taking another crack at it on Monday...

I'm actually unsure if I have sound reactivity, or if it is just me noticing the tinnitus in situations with more background noise because it doesn't seem like I'm experiencing symptoms typical of sound reactivity ngl.

Can ETD (Eustachian Tube Dysfunction) Cause Ringing Type Tinnitus?

@bkk97, I'm in the same boat as you. My tinnitus seems to have been triggered by an Ear Irrigation that was performed in early May. I'm trying to get an appointment to see an ENT but the earliest I can get is late July... My sound is difficult to explain, it's almost like a cicada mixed with...

The main thing that's killing me with mine is that I can hear it in basically most situations. It's at a pitch where not many things can mask it, if it would just not appear during the day I'd be basically back where I was before this.

Hey @EternalRinging I have a feeling I'm dealing with some type of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. I feel like there's a chance that my Ear Irrigation messed something up. I have a feeling that the nasal spray that I'm using to clear up the ETD is spiking it but I can't tell for sure.

Tinnitus Got Worse After Ear Irrigation

Hey everyone, so recently I've found out that I believe that my recent tinnitus spike probably has something to do with Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD). Whenever I open my mouth, there's a crackling sound, my left ear doesn't pop when I do Valsalva, my hearing is muffled in the left, which are...

Can ETD (Eustachian Tube Dysfunction) Cause Ringing Type Tinnitus?

I'm not an expert on this subject by any means, but I think I'm going through a similar situation as you with my tinnitus so I figured I'd leave my 2 cents on it: I too had a noticeable increase in tinnitus after a visit (albeit to my school's doctor not an ENT). I had my ears cleaned out via...

Hey, I was just wondering, according to your recent posts you also got Tinnitus a few days after an ear cleaning. I seem to be in the same boat, could you elaborate a little further on that?

Tinnitus Got Worse After Ear Irrigation

So I went to the store yesterday. It was actually not bad but there were times where it seemed abnormally loud. I'm trying not to measure it though, I've seen that noting your response but not measuring the volume helps a lot in habituation.

Tinnitus Got Worse After Ear Irrigation

Hey Jenny, I seem to be doing better today, but I haven't really gone anywhere. I do notice that it's not as loud today but I also haven't been in loud environments so I'm still kind of scared it might be more permanent. It doesn't seem as bad as it was the week after the cleaning but it still...

Tinnitus Got Worse After Ear Irrigation

Hi there everyone, I've been on here before but it was to discuss another issue, however the issue I'm discussing right now is more recent and I don't know what to do. So a little under 3 weeks ago, I went to the health services at my University because I was experiencing some problems with...

According to my ENT, there is no scarring, so far at least.

    Pulsatile Tinnitus Due to Myringotomy?

Sorry for this late response but so when they apply the anesthesia, it’s a numbing cream that’s put into the ear canal. After they apply the cream, they let it sit and after about 2 hours or so, the procedure is ready to begin. First an incision is made with a scalpel, then the tube is inserted...

    Pulsatile Tinnitus Due to Myringotomy?

Yes I only heard the whooshing (which has to be Pulsatile Tinnitus) during the time frame in which the ear tubes were in. The pressure change is a plausible cause. I’m not too sure about the fluid draining cause though, as all the fluid was drained before the installment of the ear tubes.

    Pulsatile Tinnitus Due to Myringotomy?

That is plausible but if that was the case I’d have many question marks. For example, the tinnitus was only pulsatile and was very intermittent. Most of the time I could only hear it in a position where I was lying down. It seemed to bother me most in sleep. It also seems as though you’re...

    Pulsatile Tinnitus Due to Myringotomy?

@Juan As far as I know, the ear tubes fell out by themselves the first time around (so the first time for both ears even though they were implanted at different times). But the second time, I forgot which one, there was one that somehow impacted a nerve or something (or maybe it was a blood...

    Pulsatile Tinnitus Due to Myringotomy?

Hello there everyone, I am a 17-year-old male tinnitus sufferer that has had a history with this. I am new to this thread and hoping this will provide some answers. I started getting tinnitus when it was first discovered that I had accumulated fluid in the Middle Ear behind the ear drum that my...
